Kyoto Tower Building — Attraction in Kyoto

So this is rather run down aesthetically speaking, in need of a makeover. There are only a few shops but nothing worth mentioning. The shopping/ entertainment/ souvenirs can not even be compared to Tokyo tower and skytree. It is not clear how you get to the tower floor, so go through the main/closest building at the towers base, go up the escalator/ stairs and turn left there you should see a counter for tickets. They will guide you from there to the lifts.

I reiterate, this is not somewhere for shopping and entertainment, like the Tokyo towers, so don't expect more than the single gift shop.

The redeeming factor: although not as high up as Tokyo towers, naturally, you get a great detailed view of the city. The best option for getting a lay of the land and they provide those parascope things for viewing further free. The best bit is that they have put marker stickers in English on the windows, so if you see a landmark you like the look of, it tells you on the window. Wow! This place is amazing. The basement floor has such a vast good hall full of a variety of amazing eats. If you come here, come with a tapas approach in mind because you're going to want it all!! Get a fish from a few places that seem enticing to you. On the first floor there are also a variety of markets selling baked goods, cute candies, japanese cuisine staples, and even sake! On higher floors there is an observation deck that costs 900 JY for adults. There is even a floor that provides workshops for making sushi, kimonos, arts and crafts and more. Brilliant building with many floors. Shops across different levels of the building. You go to level 3 for the Kyoto tower access. Once you've purchased your ticket you will take the lift to the 11th floor. From there you can enter a separate lift to access the sky tower. The staff were so friendly and nice.
