After a week and a half of enjoying amazing Japanese cuisine I just had a craving for a good hearty salad and glass of red wine, and I finally found it! This Irish pub makes a fantastic Caesar salad, my husband loved the fish and chips (and amazing aioli!) with a beer flight, and my son loved the buffalo chicken. I guess it’s just what we needed! Edit: we came back the next night and brought friends and had the best time!! Food is incredible, everything is fresh and on point, the drinks are delicious, and the service is above and beyond. If you’ve read Unreasonable Hospitality (Will Guidara) this is that kind of place! If you’re in Kyoto this is a must visit 🩷

On a recent visit to Kyoto, I walked by The Stones a few times and thought "that place looks fun" but I was intimidated because it was crowded and there was live music. But today, I worked up the courage to walk in and regret not coming in the first time I walked by. The staff is friendly and speak English well. There is a good selection of drinks, the food portions are adequate and the prices are fair. Although the ribs were not what we expected, (we were imagining American style spareribs instead of beef ribs) they were delicious-very tender and juicy. The fries could be a little crispier. Nice catalog of Rolling Stones when not playing live music.

Extremely friendly staff who went above and beyond to take care of us. Great place to chill with live music. Feels like an Irish pub (only cleaner). All the mixed drinks my wife ordered were amazing and the beer selection was excellent. Since moving away from the UK and our frequent visits to Ireland I’ve missed Kilkenny and Guinness on draft but The Stones left us happy and satisfied. We didn’t get to try any of the food but everyone seemed to enjoy it. They have some traditional dishes including fish and chips. When visiting Kyoto we will definitely come to The Stones again.

TERRIBLE!! How does this establishment have a rating of 4.9???? We have been to many places in Kyoto and Tokyo and this is the first poor experience. The person who saw us when we walked in did not greet or look at us and there were no other customers needing attention. We were not shown how or where to order either. The food was average to say the least. We ordered ceasar salad, chicken wings and chips. Very small portions and tasteless. The gyozas were the only dish that had flavour, and the drinks ok too. We also ordered the fish and chips and upon cutting the fish noticed a dark hair inside. I DO NOT recommend The Stones and am giving it 1 star as the drinks and gyozas were decent. Service and all other food items were not. I've reviewed many restaurants before and sadly this is the first I have given such...
