This property is very special in the high quality of the finishes and beautiful modern Japanese design. It was a delight, from the entry garden, to the unit’s little garden and wooden bath, to the neighborhood environs. We were pleasantly surprised to have a large, delicious traditional Japanese ryori breakfast included. ||The pictures do not do the unit justice, as all the small beautiful parts add up to a unique and delightful stay. ||In terms of setup, we stayed in unit 1, a 2 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom unit in the main building separated from the bustle of the street by the property’s entry garden and other small building in front. The two bedrooms are separated by sliding doors, so there is more noise carried between them than with a full wall. The dining area had a small kitchenette but not really enough equipment for significant cooking. Unit 1 is at the front of the building near the building entrance so there is some noise on the bottom floor from people coming and going but not much. These are negligible issues though. ||The location is in a wonderful pedestrian part of the historic area. As a result, there are a lot of tourists on the street during the day. But since the main building is behind the property’s other building, the unit didn’t experience any street noise. It was as great to be able to experience the calm of this neighborhood in the early morning and night. ||We loved staying here and would return again in...
Read moreWe loved Campton Kiyomizu. First of all the pictures do not really show how beautiful this property is. Second this is a very popular area full of restaurants, shops and lots of tourists (interestingly most were Japanese). We stayed in unit 1 over Thanksgiving with 3 children. The units are brand new, equipped with everything from washer/dryer to a full kitchen. The units are really clean and stylish. Note. they are not kidding about the no shoes. We horrified them by stepping into the first room with shoes on (again the place is spotless). The communication with the staff was a little tough (our fault we don't speak Japanese) but they were so lovely and tried very hard to accommodate everthing we needed. They booked us into 2 amazing restaurants incl a 1Michelin star and another v. high end. I recommend you ask them to make reservations for you way before you go, (through all of Japan, the restaurants were tough to book and really required a Japanese speaker). I had to ask how to use the washer and even the maintenace person they sent was so kind and interesting, I talked to him for 1/2 an hour. This propery had a view of the pagoda which was a very popular place for photographs, we must have seen 1/2 dozen wedding pictures shot while we were there. Overall we'd definitely stay here again, we thought it was excellent and a great change from the giant hotels we stayed in in Tokyo. Thank you to the...
Read moreWe found Campton Kiyomizu while researching our trip to Japan. When we arrived, we couldn't believe the location of the hotel! It is located very close to Yasakanoto and we can see it from our tatami room. I believe it's on the Sanenzaka and many folks were taking pictures including wedding photographers. Once we walk under the yellow "Noren" to get to the hotel front, it's much quieter. We stayed in room 1, which is the first one in the hall way. Since we were running around all day, and stayed upstairs at night, we did not notice any noise issues. It is very spacious and squeaky clean. It has all the necessary amenities, including kitchenette and washer/dryer. However, the most impressive part of our stay was the service from the hotel manager. Since they are not on the property entire time, they require us to confirm the arrival time. We emailed the information since no voice service for our temporary SIM card. In less than 2 minutes, we received a reply of a welcoming message. We arrived few hours before the check in time, and he had the room cleaned and ready. He spoke perfect English and made us very comfortable. When we checked out, he arranged a taxi for us and waited in the rain, so we don't have to. That's an above and beyond service which impressed us more than anything...
