Read moreI love Itsukichaya! I always make a reservation whenever I come to Japan. I usually go to the one in Arashiyama but this time I was closer to Kiyomizu. They also have other locations that you can visit. I love how there’s a variety of things to eat and it’s always changing depending on the season. It’s usually five rice dishes and the toppings can vary from seafood (raw/cooked), beef, or raw egg. I usually look forward to their famous Tamago kake Gohan which is raw egg over rice with soy sauce. This season they had sukiyaki which is basically hot pot and you would use raw egg as your dipping sauce. It was so good that i didn’t mind not having the tamago kake gohan. You can adjust how much rice you want, that way you don’t leave hungry for you big eaters. The normal set is perfect for me though, sometimes it’s a little too much. They also try their best to accommodate any allergies. I’ve come with friends who are allergic to shellfish and they would replace some of their bowls with different toppings like extra tempura or extra sashimi. Please check this location out if you’re in...
Read moreInteresting food because they serve small portions of different things, but it’s not a tourist friendly shop as the main reception at the door were really rude, we almost wanted to walk out due to her attitude. They have a rule where you must order 1 person per set, NO sharing allowed, we wanted to share because we have old folks that can’t really eat raw food but they don’t really care and doesn’t really want to talk to us more. It’s quite ironic for a shop that spends so much effort decorating food and make it presentable but it was utterly destroyed by bad service. The dumbest thing was the time limit to eat. You are expected to wait 20 minutes for ur food, and eat as fast as you can in the next 30 minutes because u are only given 50 minutes dining time.
It’s those one off shop that u will visit once and forget about all together and I really don’t recommend, spend your money elsewhere as you don’t deserve to be treated like this as a visitor since u are a...
