Nice place.
But had a massive misinformation by the Reservation platform. Paid online for US$140 and had to add another US$300 since the information in the reservation apps did not display the true payment.
Between both Hotels.com and Vrbo apps.
I keyed in right number of persons, but it was not accepted by the Owner-Manager.
Since it is non-refundable and we cannot cancel the reservation.
I am OK if the true payment is displayed so I can make an educated estimation how much I will pay.
Initially, I wanted to pay via the apps platform and Vrbo said no further payment is required.
And that is when my nightmare started.
I have three complaints to the Owner-Manager of Fujitaya BnB:
Please sort out your apps with Hotels.com and Vrbo on rates for rooms. Show the true price. So customers will not be conned or cheated by having to add payments cash.
Please treat your guests with respect and honesty. By not tricking to make reservations and then having to pay additional rates. Let guests make decisions based on the true price given.
It is unfortunate that my experience in Kyoto is tainted by this incident. I hope future customers will take this into consideration, I am sure the place is excellent, but this ugly Covid-19 pandemic has shown the ugly side of Nippon hospitality and...
Read moreThis hotel is good value for your money. The rooms are clean and cheap. Getting there by bus is easy, and even though there are signs saying "no luggage," the bus drivers don't seem to mind if you bring bags.
The staff are a mix of nice and not-so-nice people. The women working there are friendly and helpful. But there was one man (around 40 years old) who wasn't very nice. He got angry and yelled at me about a shower light being left on, even though it wasn't me who left it on.
Actually, this wasn't my only bad experience in Kyoto. Some older people here - like those working in stores, train stations, and this hotel - can be pretty rude to tourists. Maybe they're tired of having so many visitors? It's quite different from Osaka, where even the older people are usually very friendly. Kyoto is a beautiful city, so that makes up for the grumpy people.
The hotel has great potential with its clean rooms and good location. If the staff could work on more consistent, patient communication with guests, especially during busy times, this place could be even better. Most of the staff, like the helpful female employees, already do a great job - spreading this positive attitude across the whole team would make a...
Read moreI had a very pleasant experience staying here during my trip to Kyoto. The owners were incredibly kind and welcoming. The hotel was quiet, with two doors separating the common area from the bedrooms, which made it easy to relax. The personal air conditioning and free wifi were also a huge plus.
The kitchen was spacious enough for multiple guests to cook at the same time, which was a nice feature. The location was also convenient, right behind a 24-hour Family Mart, for buying groceries. There are several restaurants nearby offering options like okonomiyaki, ramen, and a sushi conveyor, so you may not find yourself using the kitchen often.
One thing to note is that the location is not in "downtown" Kyoto. There is, however, a bus stop less than a minutes walk that goes directly to Kyoto station, Kyoto aquarium, and a few other places. Based on the number of people in downtown Kyoto, I greatly preferred staying a little outside of everything and taking the bus each day.
The entire place was extremely clean, and the single-person rooms were the most spacious I stayed in during my time in Japan. If you're looking for a comfortable, quiet, and clean place with friendly owners, this is a...
