Soba-Kobo Hoheto — Local services in Kyoto

A fun place :-) it was full but the owner encouraged us to stay and a couple leaving told us it was worth the wait. There wasn’t an english menu available at the time but we had wifi and our translator apps to help.

The sake flight was yummy. We wanted to know the names of each alcohol but our translator apps wouldn’t work, so the waitress brought out the giant sake bottles just so we could see! I don’t know the name of them, but they brought us mini snack appetizers and they were salty, sweet, and scrumptious. We ordered the potato cheese and it was so good, I wish it came with more. It was our first time trying soba and while I personally wasn’t a big fan of the taste and texture, I know it’s my personal preferences and not the restaurant - it all seemed great quality. The tempura vegetables in mine tasted really good.

There was a very sociable family inside that made it a unique and funny experience (I think they were trying to have fun and practice their english with the foreigners in the restaurant). At the end, the owner gave me a small gift and also gave us 2 Doraemon corn potage snacks.
