Love the service at this hotel. They are very clean and hospitable as soon as we arrive at the lobby. I don't know why this place isn't on the Yelp map?! It's a spa hotel with natural hot springs, saunas, and massage chairs all included with your stay! There is also relaxation massages of various types at an extra cost.If you do plan to pamper yourself, plan to spend an entire day here. Check in is at 15:00 and check out is at 11:00. When you enter they request that you remove your shoes and store them in provided lockers. When you check in, you trade your shoe locker keys for hotel room keys and your pampering oasis begins. The rooms are all suites and are very spacious and come with a mini fridge and sitting area. Everything you need is included, pajamas, slippers, and all toiletries (toothbrush/toothpaste, brush/comb, hair ties, personal towels, slippers, socks, cotton swabs, ear plugs, cotton pads, and more. They even provide Yukatas and Obis for you to use! These make for great photo ops! They also serve free drinks all day and snacks at 18:00. A feee night snack is served at 21:00 (ramen noodles) and there are also some meal choices you can book with your stay (dinner and/or breakfast). They have public (communal) hot spring baths (gender specific) as well as private ones for families. The public hot springs are available from 15:00-10:00 and are closed from 03:00-04:00 for cleaning. The private ones are on a first come first serve basis and you can queue up for the one you want. There are 5 private ones and #2 & #3 are natural hot springs. There is a board telling you which ones are vacant and which ones are occupied.Overall, the place is quite pricey at about ¥54,000 per night for 4. But it's well worth the pampering if you're into that. Kyoto Umekoji Kadensho makes for a great spa day...
Read moreAvoid this hotel: it's not worth the cost and there are much better run and more comfortable ryokans close by. ||We booked through a Travel Agency for 6 nights and were told by the hotel upon checking in (in the evening after a long international flight) that they would only honor the booking for 4 nights due to a group reservation. This was an incredibly stressful development and the hotel staff were unsympathetic and unhelpful. The Travel Agency came through by offering alternatives or a full refund, but after accepting the full refund and leaving after one evening, this hotel continued to call me stating that I had accepted the different dates, made excuses about miscommunications (I checked out early for another hotel and they said they still held a room), and the head staff I dealt with never offered any apologies or remorse on the date changes. Incredibly unprofessional and disappointing low standard of Japanese hospitality.||Good is the location to Umekoji Station, variety of breakfast buffet options, and the diligent cleaning staff.||But, it is not worth the trade off to their front desk service, communication, and willingness to change your booking dates at a moment's notice. Their pillows and yukata's are also snatched up quickly, and you can still hear noises/ other people in the 5 private baths (open air and next to each other). You'd be better off staying at a different hotel close by Kyoto Station or even the Umekoji Park.||I will never stay at any hotels by this brand nor recommend this hotel to anyone I...
Read moreWe had an absolutely amazing time here!!!
Everything was perfect. There was a large variety of hot springs, including public and individual ones with no extra charges. The temperature of hot springs was comfortable. There were yukata (Japanese robes) with a wide range of sizes, colours and patterns available to borrow, with no extra charges as well! My brother looked pretty in his yukata!
The breakfast was rich and delicious. There were lots of food to choose from. I personally recommend the pudding and the sesame tofu there! There were free noodles and ice popsicles provided at night as snacks after 10p.m. next to the hot springs, so, you may taste it after the comfortable hot bath.
The environment was clean and tidy. The interior Japanese-themed interior was authentic and delicate, it really got us immersed in the culture and the atmosphere! We were required to take off our shoes in the whole hotel, but the floor is clean that we had no worries walking barefoot. Socks are also provided for free if guests wish to wear them. Of course, your own socks can be worn.
The staff was nice and friendly. They were active and eager to help, and fulfilled our requests timely.
Our 4-person room was spacious with plenty of nice spots for pictures. The bed was bouncy, soft and comfortable. Pillows with different hardness and materials were available to choose from.
In conclusion, our experience was definitely worth the price! 10/10 would...
