minato hotel — Hotel in Kyoto

We stayed at the Minato hotel from Oct 5 to 10 2017. This is a great little hotel and the owners were extremely nice and helpful. The hotel is in a good central location in Kyoto, walking distance to the train station and the Gion district (both of which are about a 10 minute walk or so away. It is on a residential street that runs between two main streets. This is a small 7 room hotel with a modern industrial design in what used to be a small office building. There is a great breakfast each morning with an eclectic mix of items (smoothie, fresh fruit, yogurt, soup, side salad, choice of grilled sandwhich, croissant or toast) along with juices, coffee/tea, and cereal. On our honeymoon we wanted something that was cost effective and still nice enough to love coming home at night, Minato was exactly that. |The rooms are the size you would expect from Japanese hotels but we're perfect. Bed was comfortable and the feather doona was the best. The hotel staff bent over backwards to help us enjoy our stay and that we did. They helped book a fancy restaurant, called cabs and then on the final day even called ahead to our next hotel and booked an Onsen for us. The owner on the first night even offered us an upgrade to a bigger room, but as we could only have it for 3 of the 4 days we decided to stay in the room we had which was perfect anyhow. |In all its a lovely clean super friendly hotel in a great location. 10minute walk to the main areas just enough to walk off the Kyoto katsu beef :)|Don't think about it...

Lage: in einem gemütlichen Wohngebiet in Fußentfernung zur Shijo/Kawarasuma-Kreuzung (Shijo-Dori ist die zentrale Ost-West-Verbindung und Haupteinkaufsstraße). Zur Bushaltestelle mit Busverbindung zum Bahnhof sind es keine 5 Minuten. (Bei der Ankunft am Bahnhof nimmt man besten Bus 5 (Achtung: nicht den Express-Bus!) und steigt an der Haltestelle „Hawaramatsu“ aus, überquert die Straße und geht in kleine gegenüberliegende Straße in östlicher Richtung. Das Hotel liegt auf der linken Seite.)||Das kleine Hotel wird von einem jungen, überaus freundlichen Ehepaar betrieben. Koichi-san hat uns empfangen und sofort aufs Zimmer gelassen. Wir waren drei Stunden vor der Eincheck-Zeit angekommen. In Japan zahlt man dann normalerweise einen kräftigen Aufschlag oder wartet! Koichi-san hatte neben zwei Stadtplänen mit unterschiedlichem Detaillierungsgrad und dem Busfahrplan auch die erforderlichen Tagestickets für den Bus für uns bereitgelegt. Soviel Fürsorge hat uns richtig gerührt.||Die Zimmer sind sehr modern, fast ein bisschen spartanisch, aber sehr originell, absolut funktional und blitzsauber. Die Bäder sind groß und komfortabel. Wer einen schönen Blick, lauschigen Teppich und Polstermöbel sucht, ist hier nicht am richtigen Ort. Wer ein sauberes, witziges Zimmer zu einem hervorragenden Preis möchte, sollte hier buchen.||Frühstück: Nicht nur, dass es umsonst ist (wird nicht im Preis mitberechnet), es ist wunderbar: Orangen- und Tomatensaft, Müsli, Joghurt, Gemüsesmoothie, Suppe, Salat, Croissant, Schinken-Käse-Toast, Toast, Obstsalat, Kaffee, Tee… Koichi-san serviert und steht währenddessen für Auskünfte zur Verfügung.||Fazit: Wenn wir wieder nach Kyoto kommen, werden wir wieder in dieses Hotel gehen. Es ist keines dieser Massen-Hotel, wo man eine Nummer ist, sondern man fühlt sich als Gast willkommen...
