Shinjuku Men-ya Fuhka — Restaurant in Kyoto

We went here on a hot day. Four of us were tired, hot, sweaty and hungry. As soon as we entered the sliding door, we knew we were in the right place. The fans were on full blast and ice cold pitchers of water were on the counter. We sat down and ordered our ramen. We downed glasses of ice cold water as we waited for our food.

The ramen was excellent. The broth was flavorful and noodles were soft. The pork was delicious. The karage was crisp and juicy on the inside.

I finished my combo order of pork ramen and karage the the last drop of broth and grain of rice. I probably had not had a better meal of ramen in my life.

If your in Kyoto, stop by and have yourself a meal here. I cannot give a better...

WARNING: Don't go to this place. Owners especially the woman was MEAN and outright RUDE. I was looking for some place to grab a quick bite and a beer before turning down after a long day. My son (who already ate) came along to keep me company so as I sat down to order a bowl and said he didn't want anything , she gave me the quick cross arm "X" for no service. I would have gladly paid for two bowls but eating just one. But before I could say and do anything, she pointed the door out. So we left. Regardless how good or decent a place is for food, mean and rude people should not get the satisfaction. We ended up going across the street and had great fried chicken served by the sweetest...

The ramen here was delicious! My wife and I both had the pork, which the waitress said was the go-to for locals. The regular bowl was rather large and more than filling for me. She spoke English well enough to say is, explain the menu, and pay at the end. The place is very small so I wouldn't recommend bringing more than 3 people, otherwise you may have to...
