I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Burisho restaurant during my recent trip to Kyoto, and I am still enchanted by the unforgettable experience. Nestled in the heart of this historic city, Burisho's simple yet exquisite menu completely won me over.

From the moment I took my first bite, I knew I was in for a treat. The innovative flavour combinations danced across my palate, leaving me pleasantly surprised and eager for each new course. The sauces were nothing short of divine, perfectly enhancing the dishes without overpowering their natural essence.

Now, let's talk about the fried ginger – a true masterpiece that deserves its own accolades. The delicate crunch and intense aroma elevated the entire meal, adding a layer of depth and excitement that I never anticipated. It's no exaggeration to say that the fried ginger was a revelation.

The pinnacle of the dining experience was the meticulously crafted plate of sashimi from various fish parts. Each delicate slice showcased a unique texture, inviting me to explore the distinct characteristics of every bite. The chef at Burisho truly demonstrated his mastery in bringing out the best qualities of the fish, and I was left in awe of his culinary expertise.

Even the drink menu was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to excellence. The homemade ginger ale was a refreshing revelation, and the Calpis water provided a light and cooling contrast to the rich flavours of the meal.

With its thoughtfully curated menu, creative flavour profiles, and impeccable execution, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking an unforgettable...

An exceptional izakaya experience offering top-notch Japanese cuisine and drinks. This place perfectly captures the essence of a high-end izakaya - casual yet refined, with an impressive array of small plates and an extensive drink menu.

The standout feature is their user-friendly iPad ordering system with an English menu, making it a breeze for international visitors and locals alike to explore their extensive offerings.

The standout dish was the ice-aged hamachi (yellowtail), sourced from partner farms in Kagoshima. The menu's detailed breakdown of hamachi parts showcased the kitchen's expertise and commitment to quality.

Other delicious offerings included a perfectly grilled eggplant appetizer, ideal for sharing. Each dish demonstrated a skillful balance of flavors and textures, typical of great izakaya fare.

The drink selection is where this place truly shines as an izakaya. From sake and plum wine to cocktails, whisky, wine, beer, and even Prosecco, the variety is impressive. It's an ideal spot for a night out with friends.

The atmosphere strikes that perfect izakaya balance - lively yet comfortable, with attentive and knowledgeable staff. The tableware adds a touch of sophistication without feeling overly formal.

Burisho is a versatile spot that works equally well for casual dining, drinks with colleagues, or a fun night out. Highly recommended for both its food and its vibrant...

We happened upon this place as we walked in search of dinner. Never did we imagine we would find such refined food in such an upscale atmosphere. Not to mention for such a reasonable price.

The specialty is a fish called hamachi. We tried it 3 ways: 1) in a cold side dish with spinach (good!); 2) grilled at a personal, table-top grill by ourselves (flavorful and subtle); 3) ground fine, atop rice. Also, we tried 2 vegetarian dishes, as described below.

We enjoyed sitting at the bar, and watching the chefs at work. We wish we could have watched their hands, but at least we could see their upper bodies and how much dedication they devote to their art.

Ordering was easy, even though we speak no Japanese. English menu on an iPad! We studied and ordered that way. Staff did understand our verbal...
