I was looking for a hotel that is closest to the most admired landmark of this city, Matsumoto Castle so that I can see it early morning and in the evening without having to walk long time, it actually takes around 20 minutes from the Matsumo station on foot. I was so happy to discover Matsumoto Marunouchi Hotel, the only hotel located on the ancient premises of the castle and just 4 minutes distance, making it the perfect location and even more than that, their breakfast is of high class cuisine and being held in a stunning Banquet Hall "Harmonie Bien" that used to be a Bank and is now designated as a Cultural Property by the Japanese government!! The service here was impeccable, even their room cards are in Hermès Orange color!! From my corner room on the 6th floor I can see the Matsumoto Castle even, everything is wonderful, from the elegant and well appointed room, to the little gifts from the hotel, to the extremely delicious and luxurious breakfast: their French Toast is most famous signature, crispy and juicy, the duck 🦆 was grilled on charcoal, the potatoes assembled in a crispy flavorful quiche, then they had Hot Apple 🍎 Juice not just on ice, because the apples are very famous in this area and very delicious so I was really impressed how good it was for a change, to try hot apple juice!! Will definitely try this at home!! and despite all this amazing things it wasn't even that expensive and given the perfect location there's no reason I would ever stay at another hotel than this one and I really hope to come again because that was not enough the...
Read moreHotel is very old school, there’s no phone in room, and we had to go down to reception to ask for any help- aircon, extra pillow, etc. the reception staff is extremely helpful. However the hotel pictures are rather misleading. The frontage picture is another building, belonging to a French restaurant. The real frontage / entrance is at the side. The room is very small, with old vintage 1950s vibe. It’s a little creepy, with dark corridors and insufficiency lit walkways. There was a comment from a reviewer that said it looked like the setting of a horror movie, and honestly he is not wrong. I’m not sure why the reviews are so positive here, it’s very skewed. The toilet is very clean tho. This hotel is functional, but I wouldn’t stay a night longer than what is required, not the fault of the staff, but this hotel really needs an overhaul. I do applaud them for the swift reply in changing my check in date on...
Read moreStayed here for 2 nights. The hotel was an easy 10 minutes walk from the station. Check in was seamless. Staff friendly. |I had a double room found it spacious in terms of Japanese Hotel rooms and could fit 2 adults. The room was immaculate as was everything else about the hotel. Close walk to everything the castle was a 2min walk making going back to see it lit up at night a dream |Nice little touches like warm coffee downstairs in the morning to take out, tea in the afternoon. Lollies at the counter and gentle music playing in the corridors . |I can’t comment on breakfast as i did not have it. For the $88 AUD i paid a night with Qantas an absolute gem of a place. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would pay a lot more for it. I got a bargain. I would also recommend 3 nights here 2 was not enough. I missed a day trip...
