This is a worthwhile place to visit - especially when you are looking to eat something special and "different" in a more tranquil atmosphere than many Japanese establishments.
There is a range of interesting dishes to try, with the emphasis on Japanese/Western fusion - ideas no doubt developed from the Owner's many years spent living overseas. I visited twice and tried breaded oysters with authentic tartare sauce (sublime!), salmon carpaccio, avocado crab salad with ginger soy dressing, gyoza and karaage - which was the best I ate in Matsumoto, no doubt. Everything tastes fresh and balanced, and leaves you feeling happy.
There is an extensive range of cocktails on the menu - which I did not try - sticking to beer and sake.
For me, the best thing of all is the Owner. His English skills are the best I have found after 3 weeks in Japan, and he was happy to answer (too many) questions that I had. He is courteous, hospitable, and friendly. A perfect balance - just like the food!

Read moreWish I could give this place 10 stars – absolutely incredible food, beautiful drinks, and very kind and thoughtful service. The potato and anchovy sauce was probably one of the best things I have ever eaten – seems like such a simple dish but the potatoes are cooked to perfection and the sauce is something out of this world. Could not find a better place in Japan to have a cozy izakaya experience. If you are passing through, please visit!! It is so so so worth it! Thank you so very much for having our crowd of hungry Australians and for being so warm and...

Nobody has a selection like this, believe me. The karaage and the gyozas — delicious, maybe the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot. K the bartender, what a guy. Nicest guy in the world, everybody loves him. Total winner. This place is a hidden gem, we went every night, because when you find the best, you stick with the...
