The standard of this hotel has gone down the drain massively.
I have not been to Noboribetsu since 2017 and I thought I'd come back here and book the same hotel as I did back then.
Back then, the hotel had amazing food at affordable prices featuring items such as free-flow crab legs and premium sushi.
This year, I paid about $200 SGD for 1 night and half board for 2 people. I was super excited for the dinner time that I decided to skip lunch. But alas, come dinner time, everything came crumbling down. There was no crab to be seen anywhere. The sushi selection only consisted of small shrimp, squid and cheap albacore tuna nigiri. The sashimi was not as disappointing as it had whole raw shrimp and bream to make up for it.
Most of the food were at a very average standard, not worth the high price I paid for the stay. To top it all of, even the drinks bar was at a whopping 2,000 yen extra. Only water was complimentary. All sodas and juices were charged separately from the included buffet. Never have I seen such low standards from a 3.8 star hotel.
To be honest, this hotel has killed the excitement and anticipation I had prior to coming to Noboribetsu. This will be the last time I come to this place. The area surrounding has become a major tourist destination with at least 8 tour busses at the famous "Hell's Valley" sightseeing spot, making it a nightmare to move around.
I miss the times back then where it was very peaceful, devoided of so much hustle and bustle from people.
All in all, I recommend coming to Noboribetsu once for the onsen. But any repeated trips may not be worth as much as the...
Read moreThe location of the hotel is more convenient if you go from New Chitose Airport. There is a bus to get there, but because I went to Noboribetsu after visiting Sapporo, I took the JR Railway to arrive and then took a taxi. The San Laiva Ski Resort is at the bus stop opposite the hotel. It's very convenient to get to Tokyo, but the time is very limited. If you go to the ski resort, the last bus will arrive at 3:30 at the latest. If you want to call a taxi, it will be difficult because DiDi taxis do not provide service in Noboribetsu for the time being. .In addition, if you are leaving, it is best to inquire about buying bus tickets when purchasing air tickets, because there is no immediate purchase of bus tickets at the bus station opposite, so when I left, I took a taxi and the cost was 25,000 yen. As for the hotel service, it was just average. Because I once asked him to help me arrange a taxi from the hotel to the airport but he couldn't arrange it. Later I asked him to help me arrange a taxi to the ski resort and it was easier. Then I made an appointment with the taxi driver to go to New Chitose Airport. As for the hotel breakfast and dinner, they are generally OK, but don’t expect too much. I can only say that it is acceptable. As for the hot springs, there are indoor and outdoor hot springs for men and women. But remember that the hot spring hotel will charge a hot spring tax, and my family of three paid it together. The hot spring tax is 1800 yen. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the post office. There are many restaurants to choose from...
Read moreWe stayed here for 2 nights, my family of 5, in one of the traditional Japanese rooms on the 11th floor. ||Rooms are clean and functional. ||Breakfast spread is extensive, so is the dinner buffet, until you realize that 80% of the items are same! So we had the same food 4 times in the 48 hours. Not ideal. ||The onsen facilities are good, but I have been to better ones. ||What I didn’t like about this place is how rigid / inflexible they were. I wanted to fill up my baby’s thermos flask with hot water from the dispenser during breakfast. I was told off. That dispenser is meant for cups only. So fine, I used a cup and then poured the water into my thermos. Nope that wasn’t acceptable either. ||My daughter wanted to use a desert bowl for the soft scoop ice cream so that she could add some fruit toppings. Nope that wasn’t allowed. The standard issue ice cream cups were tiny and made of plastic. What is wrong with using 1 washable bowl instead of using 5 small plastic cups? So much for being eco friendly. ||My husband wanted to use the glasses provided in our bedrooms in the shared chill-out lounge on the evenings instead of using the paper cups that were provided in the lobby’s. Nope that wasn’t allowed. You had to use the paper cups. Like what???!! What is with all these rules, and the lack of thought or flexibility when enforcing them?!| |I will not be back,...
