I must admit, I was initially skeptical when a local recommended a pizza place in Noboribetsu. After all, Hokkaido isn’t exactly known for its world-class pizza. But Pizzeria Astra completely exceeded my expectations!

Their four cheese pizza was the star of the show. The locally sourced Noboribetsu cheese was nothing short of exceptional—rich, creamy, perfectly melted, with a delightful balance of sharpness and sweetness. The gorgonzola added a touch of funk without overpowering the dish, while the drizzle of honey brought everything together in a way that made every bite irresistible.

I also tried the smoked salmon and fresh wasabi salad pizza, which was a revelation. I’ve never tasted such a unique combination of flavors before, let alone in pizza. The smokiness of the salmon, the crisp freshness of the lettuce, and the sweetness from the fresh wasabi created a refreshing contrast to the richness of the cheese pizza. It was an innovative dish that brought out the flavors of local ingredients.

I must mention the pizza dough; it deserves special recognition. It had the perfect texture - crispy on the outside, yet soft and easy to chew on the inside. The thickness was just right, striking a balance between thin and thick, allowing the toppings to shine without feeling overly heavy or bready. It was evident that the dough was made with care and skill, completing the overall experience.

Although I’m not a pizza enthusiast, Pizzeria Astra truly impressed me so much that I’d consider making a detour for it. The crust was airy with just the right char, the toppings were thoughtfully chosen, and the quality of the local ingredients made a significant difference. After visiting Hell Valley, stop by for lunch - it’ll...

Came here with my wife around 11:45 and we were the second party in the queue but we waited about around 20 minutes to be seated. The restaurant is quite spacious and you don’t feel crammed at your table like some other restaurants in Japan. The aroma of this pizzeria is amazing but the food left a bit to be desired. We ordered the Cafe mocha with Hokkaido milk, medium Hokkaido cheese margarita pizza, fried chicken, and Hokkaido sausage. The fried chicken came out first (about 7 mins after ordering). The chicken was lightly breaded and had a slight seasoning on the outside. The chicken was tender inside, but definitely could have been crispier. The sausage came out only a few minutes after and to my surprise it was wrapped around a bone and served on a hot cast iron plate, which gave it a nice presentation. The sausage was tender and easy to bite through, but there wasn’t a lot of flavor to it as I was expecting. The pizza came out about 15 mins after ordering and although it had the Hokkaido cheese, there wasn’t a lot of flavor to it and the center of the pizza got a bit soggy. I felt like it needed more basil and maybe some Italian spice. The cafe mocha came out last and it was tasty… not overly sweet and had a nice creamy chocolate flavor. I had high expectations coming here with the google rating being so high, but the food did not meet my expectations. However the staff was extremely nice and we really liked the vibe of the...

Came to Pizzeria Astra for lunch after hiking around the Noboribetsu Jigokudani Valley. It's a relatively good sized Pizzeria with a good chill vibe with Jazz BGM playing in the background while you are able to observe them making your pizza fresh on the spot for you. We ordered a total of 3 pizzas and 1 appetiser: Hokkaido Premium Caprese Fresh Hokkaido Cheese Magherita Pizza Shiitake Mushroom Pizza 4 Kinds Cheese & Honey Upon arrival of the pizzas, and upon tasting and finishing all of them, I can confidently say that they would be ranked in the top 3 best pizzas places that I've even been to. Their pizza dough that they used seems to be soughdough since it was nice and chewy yet, it was well cooked in the oven hence the crust. The pizza itself was also bursting with flavour, regardless of which flavours your order. You won't be disappointed. Am extremely surprised that such a good Pizzeria exists in a small onsen town, I would definitely be back here again the next time I'm in Hokkaido! This is a highly recommended Pizzeria and must try for anyone thats planning on visiting this quaint, relaxing, little...
