Travelled as a family of 4, and stayed at this hotel, taking two double rooms - to be blunt, it was quite a sordid, depressing experience, unexpected of Japanese servicing culture.||||We were quite tired from the morning rush, travelling from Kyoto to Osaka. We arrived at the hotel at 11, and check-in was at 3. Whilst our hotel in Kyoto was willing to give us one room when we arrived early, the hotel staff did not offer us the same privilege - whilst I'm aware that such a request is subject to availability, it would have nonetheless been nice.||||Once we had, finally, entered our rooms, we were surprised - they are absolutely tiny. I know Japanese rooms are small, but god - you literally cannot open your suitcase. When we requested an Iron, the Hotel staff were incredibly rude, suggesting to us that we ought to pick it up - as if we were doing them a favour. Moreover, at night, there is a ridiculously irritating vibration sound that prevented me from sleeping soundly from the A/C - which is absolutely essential in the hot weather. Keep in mind that I am quite a heavy sleeper. When we were offered a 'complementary drink' which expired at 11 and went to get it at 10:45, we were told that we weren't allowed to drink it downstairs, and were given plastic cups.||||Whilst the location is decent, I would've probably picked another hotel that's close to the station. The location wasn't amazing or anything, and I would've been willing to overlook this if the hotel experience was satisfactory, but it just was not. The entire hotel has an Art Deco inspiration that's meant to make you feel like a million dollars but I was treated like a few yen to put it poetically.||||In their defence, Breakfast was quite nice and definitely worth it.||||To conclude, if you want to have a holiday,...
Read moreMany cons: Extra hotel tax upon check-in charged per night. Although this is not rare practice, I've stayed at other hotels in Osaka and Kyoto, this is the only hotel that does this, so I'd say it's not very common either. Even they charged extra money, room cleaning happens every 3 days. On other days, you need to take your own bin and linen out. It felt more like self-service room than a hotel. While they clean the room, the corridors are like a mess. Not pleasant to see, considering this is a 'HOTEL'? Mini fridge in my room broke down on the 3rd day I was there, and I didn't realise until the 6th day. I ate some of those food that were unrefrigerated and threw out some. The cover underneath the handwash sink fell off and made a huge noise. They don't want to replace it and fix properly but instead put sticky tape to secure it. Toilet stink like poop all the time despite it looks clean for some reason. Reception is on the 2nd floor, so unlike other hotels where they would greet you upon entering and exit, this hotel doesn't need to do any of that as you won't see them as you enter/leave the building. Although in walkable distance to JR and Metro, it is still a little further than expected. Room is small so if I open my luggage I cannot walk.
Pros: Staff is quick to respond when I raised those issues (but again, I wouldn't have to if the room's...
Read moreOverall: The reception and restaurant team were very polite and welcoming. You have to ask for the water from the reception. It is so pity that checkout time is 10 a.m. !
Location: Relatively close to Osaka Umeda Station. Not very central but not bad either.
Breakfast: This is the 3rd hotel that I've stayed in Japan. If you stay long like me (9 nights), even there is a variety of products, it doesn't feel any different after a while. Unfortunately, the varieties do not appeal to the general. I observed that the majority of the guests staying at the hotel were foreigners and I wish there should be more western style products. At least it could have been fresh bakery products and fresh fruit (only orange was fresh). I really did not want to eat rice after a while or do not want to smell fish in early morning. There should be sweet things like jam at breakfast, it was not here. I hope the management will revise their menu a bit in near future.
Room: The size was ok, clean overall. However due to black carpet, its very easy to see the dirt. During the 9 night stay, the room was cleaned 2 times, no problem. The clean towels were...
