Overall a pleasant three nights stay in Osaka Mitsui Premier!
We opted for their breakfast as we were traveling with seniors. The hotel breakfast variety were plentiful but would recommend to change their menu every other day or so. The food were well prepared though. I would also recommend to add more fruits and fresh breads. They could do better with their coffee machines and cleanliness around this.
We chose the Moderate Twins - rooms were very spacious and we had river views. The pillows were hard to sleep on - I actually called for feathered ones around 3am. It was still to high and hard to sleep with. This is just my personal preference though. Bed were a bit hard. But my family had no problem sleeping - perhaps they walked too much during the day! Rooms overall were clean. There is no coffee machine, only an electric kettle for boiling water. There is prepackaged coffee and a couple of tea bags. They have daily room service. I enjoyed the daily few seconds interaction with the service people. They are all so polite.
I like their onsen/hot spa. Just thought they could clean the bath area and powder area a bit better. Perhaps there were just many people using the facility. There was also a Jacuzzi but I didnt dare to soak in as there were many people using it. Dont know how old is this hotel, but like the fact they have Onsen facility. Made a big difference.
Transportation - walking distance to rail stations. Shuttle bus is every 20 minutes to Osaka City - pick up and drop offs are convenient. 5/5 for this. Taxis are plentiful.
I like the quietness of this hotel and room to room noise were very well contained.
Restaurants are plentiful around the hotel. A must try is the Tori Soba Zagin, a few blocks behind the hotel across the bridge. The festival plaza also offered wide variety of food.
Although it was a pleasant stay for my family, there is a reason I didnt give 5/5 for this hotel. I was at the lobby on Tuesday morning around 7:30am with my 4 year old boy. Went to ask for English Newspaper at the reception. The young tall gentleman at the reception told me there was no complimentary newspaper and there was a fee to it. He didnt continue to tell me how much or suggest to me there is a 711 beside the hotel if I wished to buy newspapers. He just continued his work at the computer. I think for customer service, giving customer an option is important when the customer request cannot be fulfilled initially. Afterwards we walked back to the elevator to join my family for breakfast at second floor. This young lad came around to the elevator and asked me which floor I stayed at - I answered him. And he just left. I thought perhaps I was in my shorts and tshirt that he was suspicious??? I wore my Nike walking shoes and had a shoulder bag with me - so obviously I was a foreign tourist. But seriously being subject to this behavior and manner were not the most pleasant experience. If he would be polite and asked nicely I wouldnt think twice about this incident. I do note however we are staying near the business district with many well dressed business people in the hotel. But nonetheless I am not the only dress down tourists in the hotel for sure.
Despite the incident, I applauded the rest of the staff members at the reception were all courteous and polite. They all spoke perfect English and eager to help. I also like the room service and restaurant attendees - they were all so polite and respectful.
I would stay again...

The rooms smell strongly of body oder and mold. The headboards are pelling and appear to be heavily used.
Imagine the smell of a sports locker room, after years of heavy use, minimal cleaning and poor air circulation. While the hallways and the lobby do not smell, the rooms smell like this if not worse.
When we arrived for our 5 night honeymoon stay, the first room we were given had heavily smelled of body oder and cigarette smoke. There were (3) beds, and very little space. We contacted the hotel management, and we were given another room. While this one had more space, and only two beds, it had equally if not had more of the same body oder smell. Fortunately, there was no cigarette oder in this one. Both rooms / floors are nonsmoking. Unfortunately, there's no amount of air freshener nor hours to leave the windows open (if you're lucky enough to have one) to overcome the smell.
We contacted Chase Travel through our reserve card that we used to book the room. They were unable to get a refund for our stay from the hotel since the lady / manager had stated we accepted the second room. This is completely unacceptable and is borderline fraud. Luckily, we have travel insurance; yet, we had to endure the persistent body oder..
Pro Tip: before being civil and working with the hotel management, directly contact your travel agent or immediately request a full refund from the hotel.
This is obviously not a 4-star hotel. Maybe it once was, but it surely is no more (due to current management and their inability to remove the order). The best part? The manager stated that they do observe the smell but have grown accustomed to it.
Mitsui Garden Hotel does not care for all of their guest.
Do not book. Already booked?...
Read moreI have been travelling aroung Japan for two weeks, and this is suppose to be the luxerious hotel out of all of the destinations in Japan. DO NOT come here. Service and understanding is zero. We had initally booked for 3 nights (including breakfast), and then extended our stay by one night (made prior to arriving at hotel). We arrive and fist thing is they cannot find our booking, then becuase we added another night, they have to change our rooms for the 4th night. Then we noticed expedia made an error and booked for 2 people instead of 3. Now we have to change rooms twice becuase they have no rooms available for 3 guests. Next, we ask about our breakfast and NOW since we added another night, the origonal booking (that included breakfast) is no longer valid! On top of that, they ask you to take your luggage to the room yourself. This hotel is unbelievably ridiculous. It has sparkle and glam but no common sense, no accommedations for seniors, NO understanding. In Kyoto we stayed in better, less expensive, and respectable hotels and this is no where close to comparable in service. We are very dissatissfied with the service of this hotel. Expedia even called the hotel to request them to make the exception for the error in breakfast and the hotel supervisor declined and said no. This hotel is definelty loosing customers. Don't waste money nor time in this hotel. My advice, book elsewhere. Very long story short, they lack communication with their staff, cancel your booking without a confirmation from the guest WHO HAS paid, and they will call you in the middle of the night to ask you a question.
