Please read if you don't visit Osaka regularly So this is a budget hotel. As a budget hotel you get budget services and treatment. For the low cost it is a good value. Here is a good example, need a taxi? The staff will direct you a couple blocks down to a cross street to have you flag one down. Any non budget hotel would call you one and have them come to the hotel. Please note we took six Taxis back to the hotel and not of them could find it easily, even with hotel's business card, that has little map on back. When I checked in July 12th 2:30 ladies were making slightly inappropriate comments and didn't realize I speak some Japanese, since I'm American they initiated conversation in English. I thought about switching to Japanese tho my family was with me and didn't want to make a scene. When we arrived to the room they have ads for in room massage and adult films on the TV. So first impression was Massage parlor hotel! Then I thought about Smile Hotel meaning. Since I had my family with me I thought oops. Later I realized the hotel just tries to cater to everyone a little. Families traveling, business men and alot of Chinese tourists. Several stores run by Chinese in area as well made me feel like I was in China town. The house keeping staff was very kind when one of our group became ill it countered the check in girls comments. The distance from everything is by taxi is about 10 to 20 min. Hit any main hot spot in 20 min or less. Some rooms have 3 beds, rooms small, tho loaded with USB ports individual lights, and amazing use of such small space. All in all good budget hotel. I would not recommend it if you are visiting from abroad, the cost of the hotel was attractive tho I wish I spent the extra money on a non budget hotel. Still if your a man traveling solo or on a budget it's probably great. More men than women...

Booked a 3 week Japan trip on a whim and decided to base myself here for 15 nights to explore the Kansai region after having a great prior experience with a Smile Hotel in Tokyo. This one was Premium!

Off the bat, it was situated on a great location. It’s walkable to Shinsaibashi and Dotombori. There are many metro lines around so you’d also get anywhere within 20 minutes usually. I hear it is a business area, so it is not as crowded or noisy as other tourist places. And as such, food places abound to cater for the salary people. My favorites were the tonkatsu don and tori paitan places just opposite. There is also a coffee roaster that sells coffee for takeout, beans, as well as pre-packaged bottles.

Check-in and out were really smooth. Staff mostly spoke and understood a decent amount of English. I think there was one who spoke Mandarin too.

The Premium namesake means the rooms are noticeably bigger I believe. I had enough space to sprawl my medium sized luggage. Bed was comfortable and there was a work desk with a decent office chair. The bathroom was spacious and the tub was a godsend after walking tens of thousands of steps a day.

Breakfast is also available and I decided to try it on my last morning. At 1,600 yen, I thought it was a little expensive originally but the spread and options definitely more than made that price worth it. Underpriced, even! There were Japanese, Japanized Chinese, and some Chinese and Western options. Everything I tried was pretty good, if not delicious.

I would definitely...

Stayed for 3nights.|Location is good. 5minutes walking distance from Nagahoribashi station Exit2B. Turn left when you exit the station and pass through 3blocks, turn left and go ahead for 1 more minute and you will see the hotel. |It is also convenient to walk to shinsaibashi. Turn right when you exit the hotel and keep walking for 5minutes.|The design of the guest room is considerate. Room size is a bit bigger compare with other budget hotel in Japan because you still have space to walk even two 28inch suitcase are opened. The pillows and mattress are comfortable. The bathroom is nice and the water pressure from shower is good. The temperature in room can be adjust by your preference (Cool air or warm air) that would definitely a plus. |Housekeeping service is good, the room is clean. They will also place a pack of amenities in front of your door if you do not wish to make up the room. Front desk staff is nice and friendly. They can also communicate in English.|Highly recommend this hotel and would definitely visit again for my...

What a terrible hotel! First, there were masks left by the previous guest—or possibly multiple guests—on the bedside table. Under the bed, there were snack crumbs, the chair was covered in dust, and there were dark and light stains of an unknown liquid… The worst part was that on the first day, I lay on the bed for an hour without wearing pants, and my legs and waist were covered in red rashes. I don’t know if it was bedbugs, fleas, or something else. This is by far the worst nightmare of a hotel I have stayed in since coming to Japan! No cleanliness, no sense of service—this so-called three-star hotel is no better than a hostel. If you’re reading this review, turn around and walk away. Don’t waste your money or ruin your trip!

Smile Hotel with a little bit sad rooms. The room is so minimal and basic. The bed was small, the room was small and uncomfortable, there was no safe, which I think is really important to have in every hotel. Cleanliness was not the best. The location of the hotel is excellent, but beyond that I can't recommend this hotel. The employees at the reception were nice at check-in, but other than that there was no interaction with them at all, even in the mornings/evenings they didn't say hello (which is completely fine because they are working), but it's something we've gotten used to here in Japan, the way the people at the reception treat guests at the hotel.
