I stayed at Sotetsu in Tokyo and it was purely by chance due to price, location and reviews that I stayed with them in Osaka. Location is fantastic. You can't beat it. Right in front of Namba Metro which is a main station. Easy to connect to the airport and other lines if you need to get around Osaka. Convenience store right next to the hotel which is very useful. You can walk to shops, restaurants, bars and more within a few minutes. There is so much around you. The famous Dotonbori is less than 10 minutes on foot. Room was fine but small. This appears to be common in Japan but I really struggled to move around this time! Hardly any space for my suitcase and there was no wardrobe, just a place where you could hang a few things! The room had air conditioning, a heater, hot water, kettle, fridge, hair dryer and other basic amenities. The Front Desk is located on level 2. When you arrive, take the lift to this level so you can check in. I didn't eat at the hotel nor include breakfast so can't comment on food. Osaka is a city of food and restaurants, coffee shops and street food are in abundance and nearby. The hotel and room were clean but housekeeping could be better. If you want your room cleaned, you need to hang the sign on the front of your room door before noon, or they won't do it. Alternatively, you can just request clean towels with no housekeeping. I had my room cleaned everyday. This was mainly done well, but I think carpets could be better vacumed in the rooms. Lifts desperately needed a proper hoover! Other than that, fine. My room was on level 13 and lifts always took ages! Appears to be a common thing in Japan. The hotel is safe and you cannot access your floor without the key card. There is a coin laundry, an ice machine and vending machines as well. If you are on level 2 where the Front Desk is located, then grab some complimentary toiletries, tea bags and other items which you may need during your stay. I didn't really interact with staff but they were pleasant enough when I did. Limited English. The difference for me between a 4 and a 5 is that I can accept the small room especially in Japan but I just think it could be better designed. Yes, the hotel and room were clean, but the carpets need work! In all honesty, I would stay here again if it was cheap! Location was spot on and it was convenient. I was out most of the time, this was easy to come back to at the end of the day to sleep and shower. One thing I would suggest, go onto the hotel website and save the information on how to get there which is very useful. Namba Metro station is huge! There are so many Exits. Which Exit you need for the hotel depends on the line you use. I decided to be clever one day and walked out of any Exit, it took me a good 15 minutes to locate and get back...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at Sotetsu Fresa Inn Osaka-Namba for 10 nights from 3 April 2025 - 12 April 2025, and then from 16 April 2025 - 17 April 2025. Our room was on the 8th floor, a corner room relatively very small which we expected as hotels in Japan are all small. There was no safety deposit box in the room, but there was a mini fridge which was very handy to store a few cold drinks. Check-in upon arrival is all done by machines and the receptionist girl helped us. The Lobby is very small, the Reception is on the 2nd Floor where you can get all your amenities like tea, coffee, face masks, razors, lotions, creams and so on. Wi-fi is very strong on 5G. The toilet is pretty small and it's a bit inconvenient to climb into the bathtub to have a shower. The water pressure is pretty strong and everything in the room is neat and clean. There is a Family Mart on the Ground Floor where you can buy everything and is open 24/7. Their egg sandwiches are absolutely delicious. The hotel is very conveniently located to many restaurants, shops and Namba train station which is just across the street. There is a money changer just across the hotel in the left corner and a pharmacy around the right corner. Everything is a walking distance from the hotel: eateries, cinema, BIC Camera, Edion electronics store, Don Quijote, Tully's Coffee Shop (great coffee and cakes), Takashimaya Department Store (opposite hotel) and many more. It's a walking distance also to the Tojiro Knife Gallery Namba where we bought several high quality Japanese knives to take back to Australia. Three is an Italian restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel next to Family Mart. The hotel was extra helpful in sending our two big suitcases to Tokyo by Yamamoto Transport for a small fee. The reception guy went down to Family Mart with my husband and did all the paperwork, etc as Family Mart were agents for the transportation service. Excellent, fast, efficient and trustworthy service. The suitcases were waiting for us when we arrived Tokyo. When we went to Kagoshima for three days, we left our big luggage at the hotel and they took care of our belongings free of charge with great care. We will definitely stay at Sotetsu Fresa Inn when we return to Osaka. A great place, great service and most convenient for everything. Thank you Sotetsu Fresa Inn Osaka-Namba for making us feel at home away from home. We certainly enjoyed our twelve nights there. Very happy and very...
Read moreI stayed at Sotetsu Fresa Inn Osaka Namba-ekimae, 3 star hotel, 23,970yen ($155), 2 adults, one standard room with 2 twin bed.
I pick this hotel because it was located right in front of the Namba bus station where the airport limousine bus stops before heading to Itami airport. We had an early 7am flight next day so I like this convenience a lot (especially since I'm not morning person and I always rush to get ready!). The airport bus ticket booth was also near the hotel. There are actually several other hotels where they offer airport shuttle but some are only to Kansai and others to Itami so after a lot of research I decided on this hotel.
Check in experience was smooth and easy. We checked in early before our 2pm check in time at the machine, there was also staff there working at the front desk. We were able to leave luggages with the staff at the lobby so I like we were hands free of bags while exploring Osaka! I research this ahead and knew I could leave luggages here, so that was my second reason for staying here since I knew we were going to arrive in Osaka very early in the morning before 2pm.
The room itself is very narrow and small so there wasn't much room to open the luggages but since we were only staying one night, it wasn't a big problem for us. I wouldn't stay here multiple nights though due to inconvenience of not having enough room to open luggages, but that's me since I value convenience and easiness when traveling. The twin beds are comfortable for us and bathroom was decent good size. We are both Asian "average" size though (under 5'8ft and less than 130lb) so while we are comfortable, a taller or larger adult might not have the same experience as us so keep that in mind.
The AC worked fine and there was large window too that you can crack open for fresh air with a view of the city. I like the location of all switches and controls for the room was located right in the center in between the bed so I didn't have to get up to turn off the lights! There was a small fridge, desk area, clothing rack, slippers, kettle for hot water, full length mirror, air purifier (or maybe it was air humidifier, I can't remember....) ,and other amenities in the room.
Overall I would stay here again if I am flying out the next day from Itami Airport. I was able to sleep comfortable despite being right in center of the city so no complaints...
