This was an incredibly disappointing stay. Starting with the pros:|- good location |- good size room (although I paid more for a bigger one knowing the size of some Japanese hotel rooms)|- onsen on site||Cons:|- disinterest from the reception staff, something I have never come across in my 5 trips all over Japan in the past. They seemed intent on telling me at check in all the things they I/they could not do- you can’t leave your luggage with them on the day if checkout (which other hotel does this, especially when check out is at 10am!), they only clean rooms after 3 days, they don’t provide towels at the onsen so you must use your room towels, no breakfast available, tea and coffee and other amenities will not be placed in your room (you need to get them downstairs- seems a pity they couldn’t stock things at check in and you could top up as necessary) and if another person sets foot in your room you will be charged for an extra person staying. The latter shocked me as I had a friend in Osaka at the same time- no chance we were having a drink at my hotel! Not once was I offered any information about the area or even told about the wifi. I had to prompt for all of these things. In other countries I may not find this surprising but in every Japanese hotel I have stayed in the staff have gone to every effort to welcome you and provide you with any and all info and assistance you may need. |- the rooms are tired and dates. No plugs next to the bed (in the 21st century this is a necessity), fridge in room but not properly functioning, aircon only in Japanese- a translation or guide on operating as most other hotels have if there’s no English on it would be useful. |- the onsen is a great facility but felt a bit grubby. Also, big signs in the lift saying that you can only use them from 6.30-11 at which stage security will lock them! Also said that you can NOT use them in the morning. As you pay an onsen tax at the property, it seems a shame the hours aren’t more expansive. It all just seemed rather aggressive in tone. |- no coin laundry available. This is a shame and is available at almost every other Japanese hotel and is very useful for travellers. ||This hotel could be made so much better with a few tweaks, mainly to attitude of staff and policies and some basic modernisation. Until that is done and at the prices charged (which in my opinion are high compared to similar rated hotels in other large Japanese cities, all of which provide a better product), I would steer clear...

Hospitality is fabulous. The only hotel that remembers we have a toddler and gave us 3 sets of towels everyday without reminders. The mandarin speaking staff left a deep impression of us! There was even a gift for our toddler: an adorable kids set (drawstring pouch, bathing sponge, cute peg, bear toothbrush set etc) which totally delights her till today.

Read moregreat location nice onsen clean no wifi in room can’t control room temp standard service small room / no cupboard or place to store bags breakfast service very poor
We arrived early but could not check in until 3pm which is fine that’s what the website says. Location couldn’t be better right near the train station, restaurants and shopping. Is hard to communicate with language barrier compared to other hotels but we should know better Japanese rather then expecting others to know English. Once checked in, room was tidy but small hard to store bags. Realised we had no wifi in the room, very inconvenient when trying to plan ur days and the lobby only has a few chairs against a wall. Room was hot especially for sleeping and to loud outside to open the window. Asked staff to help with temp control but said there was nothing they could do, didn’t find staff overly healpful but still polite. Had the buffet breakfast downstairs and the lady working seemed to be angry, Pacing around, glaring at us and our food, arguing with other staff. My husband asked if she could cook eggs as we were told by reception they had eggs before booking when he asked her she seemed to flip her lid to another staff member who told us she couldn’t, my son also spilt some water and when I told her she threw her hands up and sighed making us feel very uncomfortable- probably the worst and only bad interaction we’ve had in all of Japan. Stupidly went again for breakfast and felt so uncomfortable we didn’t want to ask if the juice or bread could be filled up as she paced around clanging bowls ect. Onsen is nice there are 2 one for men and women and have set opening times. Also has a sauna and room comes with robe and slippers to wear to and from the onsen. This being the difference between me giving a 3 star...
