フランス食堂Nature (ナチュレ) — Restaurant in Takayama

The food, the wine, the atmosphere, everything felt like home, with a bonus. As a french person travelling to Japan you wouldn't expect to find a place to eat that reminds you of a small french gourmet restaurant. But that is exactly what we found here. The food is amazing, and the chef's personal take on french classics is a very welcomed bonus ! (Adding kaki to the terrine is something I'll definitely try in the future !) The service is great and the atmosphere very cosy, needles to say we had an amazing diner !

We discovered this charming, Well designed, gem of a restaurant on our last night in Takayama - we are so happy we did. The food was absolutely fantastic. Michelin star level. Incredibly fresh, locally sourced, all the menu item was perfectly prepared, nothing overcooked or undercooked. Everything made by the Chef directly in front of us as we sat at the bar. This was a thoroughly enjoyable meal. We were in town for one night and walked by the place, by chance, in the afternoon. We called and made a reservation and the only seating available was at the counter. Hint: call well in advance if you want a table.

It started with ravioli and we ordered a green salad when they told us my roasted venison dish would take time. My wife had a chicken dish. Both dishes were superb.

The cost of the meal was very reasonably priced for us, knowing affordability is a relative and subjective thing. We'll be back when...
