Service here is top notch. We had decided to walk from the station to the hotel, though they do provide a shuttle service. While we were walking down the road towards the ryokan, we were spotted by the staff, who immediately came over to help with our luggages.
We were given a welcome tea with snacks in our room. When we returned for a short break the next day, we had a knock on the door, with the staff offering to brew some tea for us! Great service!
We would also like to commend one of their staff, Ms. Zhu, who was very chatty and patient with our questions. She kindly explained every dish we were having during dinner service in our room, and even explained some of the history behind some of the local traditions in Takayama. She made us feel very welcome during our stay.
Meals were wonderful and elaborate, with kaiseki dinners including Hida beef in your room. There is also a choice of either Japanese or Western breakfast. As we stayed for 3 nights, we were recommended to try out the sushi bar at their sister ryokan just across the road. It was a nice experience, and the chef was very attentive and replaced some ingredients without us asking when he noticed us not eating them.
The ryokan is in a great location too — only about 5 minutes from the Old Town and morning markets, and 10 minutes from Takayama Station.
Had a lovely and wonderful 3-night stay here and would definitely recommend...
Read moreOur group of 6 stayed here in February 2024. We stayed for several nights in the Japanese-style rooms with futons on tatami mats. This ryokan was located about 10-15 minutes away from Takayama Station and was easily accessible on foot even when we were dragging our luggage along. If walking's not your thing, the ryokan also has a shuttle service available, though we didn't take this up and can't confirm if it's a paid service or not. Apart from its proximity to Takayama Station, the ryokan is also mere minutes away from the Old Town area of Takayama, making it extremely accessible as a base of operations. ||When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the ryokan staff who promptly attended to our check in while serving up hot tea and a welcome dessert. The staff also walked us to our rooms while explaining how everything worked. The rooms were spacious and clean. The public bath areas were also well-maintained and pleasant to use. Possibly the only area of improvement would be the bedding, as the futons were generally thin and provided little to no cushioning against the floor. The pillows were also unfortunately rather flat and not fluffy, and generally required some propping up to provide any sort of support.||On the whole, we enjoyed our experience and would be glad to stay here again if we were to return...
