Service was terrible. The Japanese guy in charge of the terrace seating area is very rude and arrogant.
First when we were deciding what to have, he told his coworker to get the English seasonal menu for us - which was a nice gesture, but when the coworker mistakenly grabbed the Japanese menu to our table he lashed out “英語ですよ英語” (The nuisance is like “I told you it’s English menu!”) to her - which was definitely not something you would expect to see in a hotel restaurant nor an Italian restaurant. It was very uncomfortable and I felt bad for his coworker.
He also had an aggressive approach of trying to make us order more food and drinks - always asking if we want to order more and his tone was definitely not the friendliest. Once we stopped ordering more drinks he kept the empty glasses away and presented the bill to our table without a word. Yes you read it right - without a word and it’s a bill we didn’t, yet, ask for.
Food wise we ordered garlic shrimps, carpaccio with scallops and mushrooms, and margherita pizza. Besides the terribly small portion of the tapas, they also didn’t taste good in my humble opinion - shrimps were not fresh and overcooked, absolutely 0 garlic flavor; while carpaccio was just ok - not unsavory but I wouldn’t say it’s tasty either. I honestly think anyone unprofessional can do a better job at home, and this is a hotel restaurant we’re talking about… Margherita is not too bad for Japan’s standard but the mozzarella cheese is way overstretched - rubbery and hard, dough needs to be more salted. It can’t compare to the real thing in Italy but good enough for a quick pizza fix in Akihabara.
All in all, wouldn’t come back again because of the bad service and bad tapas. Pizza is ok but there are also plenty other options for Napoli...
Read moreThere were 5 of us. Arrived before 830pm. About 5 mins later we were told by a server that no seats were available inside. We were offered a table outside. We decided to take it since we were already there. 10 mins later, no service - no menu, no water. Had to press the service button and approach a server to ask for menus and water to be served. The menu came but no water. It took another 5 mins for our order to be taken and later told that it would take 30 mins to make the pizza. At this point we should have left but out of respect for having already placed the order we decided to have a beer while waiting. Even the beer took a while to arrive…and still no water served. It was almost 930pm when our pizzas finally arrived. We ordered 3 - 2 red sauce, 1 white sauce. It took yet another 5 mins and again having to approach a server to get plates and silverware. The toppings completely slid off 1 of the red sauce pizzas (named after the restaurant i think). Had to eat the toppings separately with a spoon and fork. While the dough was decent, the flavor was nothing great especially for the price. We noticed that at least 2 adjacent tables may have been having similar service issues. With a rather upscale and bustling atmosphere, I hope this experience was just a one-off. Perhaps a staff shortage, training or coordination issue. Unfortunately we won’t be back...
Read moreAtmosphere is great; nice music, great sound system, nice lighting.
Service is average; seemingly understaffed, maybe too dark for the service team to notice the diners calling for them. Transparency in charges severely lacking; service (seating charge) etc.
Drinks are great, but do note they are a tad pricy.
Food is far from good: Appetizer : had the "mushroom tofu". Not your usual tofu made from soy beans. Seems to be made from fermented mushrooms instead. As a mushroom lover this is great!
Ordered a pizza margherita (my usual control pizza to gauge to level of the pizza sold by an establishment). The pizza was wet, floppy, and soggy. The crust was crispy for the first minute and became rubbery thereafter. The tomato sauce was seemingly made out of good tomatoes, but lacked flavor in general. The basil tasted stale. The cheese tastes very bland as well.
Ordered the pasta of the day(apparently a pasta with shrimp and mushrooms tossed in garlic oil). Pasta was cooked to an al dente texture, which was the only good thing about it. Flavors were horribly balanced, extremely bitter in a bad way. Pasta also looked and tasted like the type you would buy from a supermarket in boxes.
In all, I felt sorry for all the ingredients used in the food as they could have been put...
