First a warning: there are two Resol hotels in Akihabara. They or both on the same street, owned by the same company and decorated in the same style. However, one overviews the river and one overviews the train tracks. So if you had your heart set on either view, please be careful when booking.||The street where these hotels are located used to be a shady backstreet of Akihabra, but with all the new buildings it's gained a lot in allure. The location is about a 1 minute walk from Akihabara station JR Line and about 5 minute from Akihabara station for Tokyo Metro.||The hotel called "Resol Stay" overlooks the train tracks. The style is a modern interpretation of Japanese natural and warm hospitality. The reception floor also offers washing machines, work spaces and a meeting space with free drinks (tea, apple juice, orange juice).||My room (#810) has low ceilings (the bathroom is even lower), while warm shades and wooden accents set the tone. Very nice for a 3 star hotel! There's no safe in the room, which for me is a big problem (meaning I had to carry my laptop and camera with me every time I left the room). Other than that all necessities are there. The Internet connection is quite fast, no complaints here either.||The only real complaint is about the air vents. Fresh are is blown into the room constantly, but at such force that the person sleeping in the left bad might seriously catch a cold. It would be nice if the power of the airflow could be regulated by the guests. At the 8th floor the noise of the trains passing by was minimal and never disturbing.||Other than that, Resol Stay offers a nice room at a...
Read moreI booked 3 nights in this hotel for 2 different rooms. Clearly the junior receptionist firstly met such case so she asked a senior staff for the following handling in system but not sure why she asked me if i could able to downgrade my room in the first night without any compensation. I definitely do not accept such offer because i already paid what i need to pay in this 3 nights. And i am not sure why she offered me the downgrade of room but not asking me if i want to upgrade my room in another 2 nights with additional charge. Therefore i asked back what if i want to upgrade my room then how much i should pay in extra. Unfortunately, the senior staff come without greeting then gave me a long face and said there is no upgrade room offered in the further two nights. I am still thinking this is Tokyo attitude at that moment but just a minute later, two white guys come and asked for her help then that senior staff that gave me long face a minute ago bursted into smiles and helpful attitude. That is so unbelievable that actually i didnt do anything bad or wrong, i just want the reception give me the room i have booked and that’s all. I think the junior local receptionist would like to help but just unable explain herself well in English so i am OK with her service but i just cant accept such service from the...
Read morePositives:- Location is great - a couple of minutes walk from Akihabara station, from which it’s easy to access lots of areas of Tokyo. - Staff were excellent. I only dealt with the front desk staff, but they were very warm and friendly, and gave lots of information when checking in- Bathroom is a good sizeThings to consider: - The room is very small - my room was smaller than it looked in the picture, and I think calling the bed a ‘small double’ was a bit of a stretch. As I was travelling alone it was fine, but I wouldn’t want to share a room that size. It was difficult to open my suitcase in the room. If I was staying for longer than a few days this would have bothered me.- I couldn’t work out how to open the curtains. They should consider leaving some instructions in the room. I was hardly in the room and only stayed a couple of days, otherwise I would have asked reception about this- Rooms are not made/cleaned daily, but fresh towels and water is provided everyday. The towels are not big bath towels. If you are, ahem, a larger person, the towels will be a little small for you. I had this issue and it’s not really a problem, but something to note. Overall I had a positive experience here and would stay again. The main positives for me were the great location and...
