《A lively sushi restaurant in Akihabara》 [Location] A great location, just a 2-minute walk from Akihabara Station. A sushi restaurant under the elevated railway.[Lunch prices]From ¥2000 / Free extra large servings of rice, free refills.
We went here for lunch with two adults. We ordered the chef's choice nigiri set (with tempura, chawanmushi, and soup, ¥2400 ), two individual pieces of flounder (¥160 each) and two pieces of whelk (¥180 each), and had three beers, for a total of ¥7500.
[Food] -Tempura... Shrimp, Chikuwa, sweet potato, snap peas. It was freshly fried and crispy and delicious. It came with grated daikon radish and ginger, which made it refreshing. -Chawanmushi... This was also freshly made and served warm. The flavor of the dashi stock was strong, and the gentle taste was to the liking of Japanese people. It had a smooth texture. -Sushi... The toppings were large, and I felt very satisfied with each piece. I'm sure it depends on your taste, but the salmon roe, conger eel, and flounder were delicious. I felt that the amount of rice was a little too much for the amount of toppings. I also felt that I would prefer the rice to have a more sour taste. It may be inevitable since it's in the middle of the city, but I think it would be even more delicious if the ingredients were a little fresher.
[Service] I went there at lunchtime on a Saturday or Sunday around 1pm, but I was able to get in without having to wait in line. At the counter seats, the sushi chefs made the sushi right in front of me, so it felt like a live performance. The staff's calls were bright and lively. There were tables in the back, and there were plenty of seats.
When I sat down, they first brought me the menu and tea, and after I ordered, beer, tempura, and Chawanmushi came out immediately. I was glad that there was little waiting time after ordering. Because it's in Akihabara, there were many foreign customers. The staff were also very friendly, and I had a good...
Read moreWhere do I start... well, first let's talk about service. I've ordered quite a bit and when I stated that I ordered hot tea, the waiter (male) insisted that I've ordered a cold tea. Uhhh.. I told him I'm pretty sure I've ordered hot. He said (in broken English) "NO! YOU ORDER COLD. COLD". To this I said okay. Can I get a hot one please? A hot one was given with extreme attitude.
Next, I ordered miso soup and they've forgotten about it. Midway through, I asked him and again frustration. Though I'm pretty sure he knew I've ordered it beforehand. He begrudgingly accepted and a waitress had given us the misos.
Strange. I never dealt with this issue in Japan (been in Japan for only two days and visited probably 27 places). Food was decent though. I am a non Japanese speaking American Asian Male...
Read moreThis was my first sushi place in Japan, and I am really happy about it! I love eating sushi, so I was really excited to try all the different kinds that were offered here. I usually only ever eat salmon sushi, occasionally tuna, but being in Japan I knew I had to try more.
Firstly, this restaurant had a large fish selection. I don't eat certain kinds of fish, and even then there was a lot for me! All the fish tasted fresh and very good, and the rice was very tasty to accompany all the pieces.
The atmosphere was cozy too, and me and my friends had a really fun time eating and talking here. Ordering was super easy too, we just wrote the quantity of what items we wanted on a paper and then handed it to a waiter.
Overall if you are in Akihabara and want to have some great sushi, definitely check...
