Okay, so the beers are good, the selection is fantastic. They are all craft, they are all interesting. They are really expensive. We spent the last 15 years in London and you're getting more of at least as good beers for less. When you consider that a bad pint in London is still six quid but an average pint in Tokyo is a nice lager at like £3.50, £7.50 for a 400ml serving of craft beer is, frankly, a bit much. It's more than the craft beer place round the corner, Ushitora, which had a better atmosphere and only slightly fewer beers. It's more than the craft beers direct at say Kyoto Brewing or any of the bars that stock them. And finally a boring complaint about price presentation. Occasionally in Japan you get the old US switcheroo, this is the price except if you look closely in tiny writing there's the price with tax. From the UK this has always seemed stupid but when in Rome or Atlanta or apparently Tokyo, kind of fine. Except actually in Japan very few places display the before tax price most prominently when it comes to bars. These guys did to the degree that we had no idea, despite playing this game for weeks. It could be great, I think we've been fair, but it's hipsters preying on hipsters and that's...

Read moreNice space, beer and staff but no getting away from the prices. 1000 yen on average for only half a pint. Lots of reviews on here say it’s the best craft beer place in Tokyo - they must be people who only go to places like Shimokita. Beer Ma in Kanda is cheaper and has a better selection. The Mikkeller bar in Shibuya is cheaper and the beer there is top notch. Antenna America in Kannai has great beer at cheaper prices.
Treat the over enthusiastic reviews on here with a pinch of salt. This bar does a lot of things right but the prices seem to have a Shimokita markup and the selection is very IPA heavy (at least...
