BEWARE and AVOID this Apartment Hotel!
This establishment was incredibly unprofessional, and I strongly recommend avoiding it at all costs. I booked this hotel through Agoda and have never had such a terrible experience.
After a full day of exploring Shibuya, we arrived in Shinjuku in the late evening (around 9 p.m.), expecting to check in and relax before heading out for dinner. Instead, we walked into an unlocked apartment that hadn’t been cleaned—as if the previous guest had just checked out and no one bothered to tidy up.
The nightmare began when we tried to contact the hotel. The conversation with their support was incredibly frustrating. In the end, we decided to leave and, fortunately, found another hotel nearby that didn’t cost us a fortune. Please see the attached WhatsApp screenshots for details.
Since the hotel has been unresponsive regarding my refund request, I have flagged this issue to Agoda and am having them handle the refund process.
To the Kanda Hotel: If you’re going to run a hospitality business, please do it right. You’re giving Japanese hospitality a bad reputation and, more importantly, ruining someone’s trip with your poor practices.
Update (9/3/2024): After reaching out to Agoda, I received a generic AI-generated response offering $10 as a 'gesture of goodwill' from the hotel provider. Frustrated, I emailed Agoda support again, only to get the same automated reply. I've been an Agoda customer since 2017, and it's disheartening to see that I can no longer trust...
Read moreThe hotel is simple that you use to sleep in between touring Tokyo.
Room - The room we slept in was simple and clean and decently insulated from the noise. The only critics with the room are that there looks like water damage in the ceiling of the room, when using the TV the display that you are at HDMI doesn't go away, and at night you sometimes smell korean bbq in the room.
Service - It's barebones that there is no reception, you get your key at a lockbox at the door to your room and there is no cleaning service. It's ok if you don't want to interact with anyone but when we were contacting them about their drop off service to the airport it took them 3 days to confirm.
Location - The location is near the middle of Korea town in Tokyo. There are a lot of korean bbq around the neighboorhood along with stores of clothes and groceries. It is about 5-10 min walk from the station and near enough to Shinjuku that you can walk it in...
Read morevery horrible stay, granted my friend wouldn't know what hotel to book in Japan, I am disappointed I had to stay in this one. it is not a proper hotel, its just a shoddy apartment building with the hotel signs slapped on to the front entrance, and that front entrance being a cluttered alley/hallway that takes you to a strange elevator at the back of a restaurant which is very awkward. I had to sleep on a makeshift futon on the floor. and there was mold every where. the apartment was cold. the location is ok but I had no idea we would end up in Korea town/area of Tokyo, made me learn a few things. regardless, me and my friends refused to stay more two nights and decided to leave early, but when we expressed our complaints to the hotel managers and asked for a refund, they refused. Ultimately, don't stay...
