Enjoyed a relaxing 6 night stay in Tokyo staying here at GLOU from Airbnb reservation. The small hotel with small rooms is in first alley off the main street (305) so it's quiet but easily to get to.
Within 2 minutes walk of exit B1 at Higashi-Shinjuku station in Shinjuku City (same side of the main road as the hotel). If you're dragging heavy luggage use the elevator at exit B2 and you'll be just across the main road from exit B1. This station (Higashi-Shinjuku station) connects you to both (brown) Fukutoshin line and (red) Oedo line.
The rooms and bathroom are tiny but bed is big and comfy. Heat kept me comfy when it's cold outside and plenty of hot water for showers. Mini fridge keeps milk, drinks, yogurt and other snacks cold and the tiny kitchen sink is nice addition to the bathroom sink.
There are no utensils so I bought disposal bowls and spoons at Welcia drug store around the corner and further down on the same side of the main road is My basket supermarket to get groceries and food.
About 1km west from the hotel (longer walk) is one of the JR metro lines at Shin-Okubo station and lots more places to eat over...
Read moreI had a serious injury that required me to have immediate surgery. So I cancelled my reservation and communicated this to the host on the same day of my injury, a week ahead of the intend stay. The host was then able to have those dates rebooked with other guests because of the one-week notice I gave. I asked for some form of refund and the host completely denied it, quoting “to be fair to other guests”. ||Most hosts would grant at least partial refund if the situation is of out of guest control and especially if they are able to have the dates rebooked. So it seems this particular host is just deliberately being inhuman with their cancellation policies. There was no room for negotiation and no sympathy conveyed in our communication. All they care about is that now they get to earn double for the dates if they deny my refund request.||I have not stayed with the hotel so I cannot comment on the place. However the frustrating communication I had with the host left me the worst impression among all hotels I...
Read moreI had the genuinely most wonderful stay here in GLOU, from the moment I checked in onwards. The staff were legitimately, some of the kindest and most helpful folks I have ever met traveling, and were working hard to ensure I had a good, comfortable time. The location is incredible, close to major Tokyo Metro lines, as well as a bustling, major thoroughfare stocked with food options, but tucked away far enough in a suburb that the actual hotel is quiet.
The hotel is incredibly clean, with a very helpful all laundry machine in the basement. The turnover service was exceptional, going to the extent of organizing my belongings and tying up a USB cable that I was no longer using for storage. I have never been this impressed by room cleaning service in my whole life.
This is the favourite hotel that I have ever been at. I am looking forward to returning to Japan for future travels, and I hope to be able to stay here in the future. Thank you...
