New Name: Sotetsu Fresa Inn Higashi Shinjuku We loved our stay here! Location - 5 stars Conveniently surrounded by three (3) different konbinis. This gives us variations on items being sold. McDonalds and different affordable restaurants are within walking distance. Quite a walk going to the center of Shinjuku, but manageable. You can take a stroll towards the Samurai Museum, Starbucks and the Godzilla head. And come across various restaurants, stores and sights. Not to mention, there's a train station just a few steps away the inn. Staff - 5 stars They can communicate in English! The front desk staff were able to assist us with all our queries on directions, attractions, transportations, etc. They always have the warmest smiles when we arrive, very patient and accommodating. Food ( Royal Host) - 5 stars The adjacent restaurant where decent breakfast is being served has really warm staff as well. We ate here for lunch on Christmas Day. And the coupon for breakfast, if not availed, may be used for a different meal period. The young lady who served our table was very patient. We had to discuss regarding the coupon. Despite her inability to speak English, she didn't give up on me or avoided me. In the end, we were able to get our messages across each other. So wonderful experience. And of course, the meal tasted really really good! We were happy with our Christmas lunch. Amenities/Facilities - 4 stars As expected from an inn, the room size was a bit tight. The toiletries weren't in good quality but these can be looked over. One thing I loved most and found practical is the pajama set they provide. Next time we stay here, no need to bring personal sleepwear because their pajama set is so comfortable! There's a laundry room where the microwave is also located. This made our stay practical when we would just get food from the konbini on the evenings were too tired to go out and eat. Cleanliness - 5 stars Very practical cleaning services and done wonderfully.

Read moreThis hotel is very competitively priced. I think it is not for those fussy travelers who don’t understand the principles of price to value ratio. ||At this price point, travelers should not expect the room size to be big or luxurious. It is the typical size of business hotels in Japan. So my advice to potential travelers who want to have big rooms, then they can skip this and pay 4 times more for big brand name hotel chains. ||The location is located next to 2 subway lines which can bring you to Ueno and Shibuya quickly. It is walkable to the Shinjuku Golden Gai and the Korean town. From the airport, just take the Keisei skyliner and get off at Ueno station. Then take the odeo subway to the hotel. There is also a cheaper option, that is to take the Keisei all stop train. This takes about 19 mins longer but it is cheaper by about USD11. ||There are lots of amenities at the lobby and these are all self-service. ||Room tip|Those rooms not facing the main road are bigger because of more usable space. I stayed in both types during my 10 days stay and the one not facing the main road was definitely more comfortable due to more space and less noise. Recommend that you request for rooms not facing the main road. ||The breakfast was really monotonous and lack variety. It’s the same stuff everyday. It is not worth waking up for, let alone its 1,980 yen price tag. ||Overall, I’d have rated this hotel 5 stars due to its excellent price to value ratio. However, there was a very bizarre incident on my first night when a staff opened my room at 1.10 am!! |I was woken up by this intrusion and got a huge scare as I thought I saw a ghost in my room. I could sleep after the incident and missed my prepaid breakfast because of it. The reason for her intrusion was to check for perfume smell. What an strange reason to enter a guest room at 1.10 am. Moreover, I did not even use...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at the Sotetsu Fresa Inn Higashi Shinjuku during my visit to Tokyo, and I must say that it left a lasting impression. This hotel is a true find for travelers seeking comfort, convenience, and a central location, although it's worth mentioning that the room size might be a minor drawback for some.
One of the standout features of the Sotetsu Fresa Inn is its unbeatable position. Nestled in the vibrant Higashi Shinjuku district, it is within easy walking distance of major attractions, shopping districts, and public transportation hubs. This made exploring Tokyo incredibly convenient, and I never felt like I was wasting precious time commuting.
The hotel's commitment to cleanliness deserves commendation. The entire property exudes a sense of tidiness and order, from the lobby to the hallways and rooms. Housekeeping staff seem to work tirelessly to maintain the hotel's high standards, ensuring a comfortable and hygienic stay for all guests.
Now, while the positives of the Sotetsu Fresa Inn are numerous, it's important to address the one notable drawback: the room size. Admittedly, the rooms are quite compact. While they are cleverly designed to make the most of the available space, some travelers might find the tight quarters a bit challenging, especially if they're carrying larger luggage. However, it's worth noting that this is a common trait in many Tokyo hotels due to the city's limited real estate.
In conclusion, the Sotetsu Fresa Inn Higashi Shinjuku is undeniably a solid choice for travelers looking to make the most of their time in Tokyo. The hotel's exceptional location, top-notch cleanliness, and overall quality outweigh the minor inconvenience of the smaller room size. If you're willing to compromise a bit on space for an unbeatable location and excellent amenities, this hotel is an excellent option for...
