Overall, a great hotel for a solo traveller! ||- Room: Small but expected it to be, if you are booking a simple room you should know what you are getting yourself into. The bed was comfy and had no dramas with it. The WIFI worked very well, but dropped out sometimes. However, be warned that if you get a smoking room, the whole level normally smells of smoke, so it's not just the room. ||- Hotel and Surroundings: A major major limitation of this hotel is that it has only 1 lift! This makes it extremely difficult to to get in/out of your level. You can expect to be waiting for up to 2-3 minutes at a time for a lift. Also avoid the lift in peak hours, it is very difficult to get a spot. Additionally, another limitation was the noise from outside especially during the evening, Ambulance and Police vehicles would often drive past late at night. Request a room on the top floors to sound-out the noise. ||- Bathroom: standard Japanese toilet and a standing shower in the bathtub. The hotel provides a number of bathroom amenities free of charge (i.e. grooming products, soaps etc.) which you would expect from the luxury hotels. ||- Location: Perfectly placed! The Limousine Bus from the airport literally stops right outside the hotel (which is useful if you are coming into Tokyo late at night). Additionally, it is situated 50 metres (1 min walk) from Highashi Shinjuku Station. If you are looking for food eateries, there is a McDonald's 100 metres away (1.5 mins walk), Tully's Coffee is also 100 metres away and a number of 7-Eleven's about 100 metres away. This is in addition to the hotel being situated 5 minutes walk from Kabukicho and Golden Gai which are infamous areas for great food, drinks and nightlife in Tokyo. ||- Service: Was excellent! The staff were were very polite and quick to handle any enquiries. There is a secure storage space for luggage provided free of charge if you are arriving early or leaving late. However, a limitation was the staff's inability to communicate well in English, this made it difficult when trying to speak with them over the phone or even sometimes in person. ||||Would definitely stay here again due to the Hotel's location and...
Read moreI had a night in between bookings so we needed to find a room and being it was the weekend most were already booked. Stumbled across this one and being their claim is something like Luxury made simple, we had hoped for the best. ||When checking in the staff were friendly and was a quick and easy process. We then went up to go to our Non Smoking Double Room. ||When opening the door I couldn't believe my eyes, it was literally smaller than some hotels in NYC. The room was so small that we both couldn't be standing at the same time, nor could we unpack our suitcases, or store them. There was a small window with a bed pushed up against it, a small desk with a fridge under it, and a small bathroom and that was basically it. ||The hotel did provide wifi, a selection of free movies on the TV, amenities in the bathroom etc. But it was just not enjoyable. The bed was not that comfortable and I could smell the doona or bed cover had not been washed in a long while (even though it had a clean cover on it) it just smelt dusty. The room is also set at one temperature (for the whole hotel), which you can not alter from your own room (even though it has a panel and its own duct, so you had to open a window in the freezing cold to get some fresh circulation of air. ||The bathroom was also so small I couldn't turn around in it, so it made drying myself and getting dressed in there very hard. ||The room was only $50 cheaper than the much larger more luxurious hotel we stayed in the next night, which was completely confusing. ||I suppose for someone on a tight budget with no other choice it would be ideal, though for me I would have rather tried a capsule hotel as I believe it would have been a...
Read moreMy wife and I have stayed at APA hotels through out Japan and have always had a positive experience. This last time was a bit different. As we're now traveling with a child, we opted for the twin room this time which is bigger and showed a closet area. When we arrived our room was smaller than what was in the pictures and did not have a closet.||||I went down to the front desk to inquire about this and the clerk said the picture was an example. If you depict a closet in one of your rooms in your example pictures, there should be a closet. I don't expect the room to look exactly the same but if a hotel is showing certain features, I expect my room to be the same.||||The other complaint I have is regarding towels. There are three of us but we only received two fresh towels a day. When I asked if we could have three, the clerk said that this is their policy and they can't provide anymore. Seems odd that one extra towel would be a hindrance of some sort.||||The rooms are clean as always, beds comfortable, check-in and check-out is a breeze. There's a Lawson and 7-11 very close by if you need anything at all hours of the day. If you walk out and turn right at the intersection, go straight for awhile, there's a Don Quixote store which is massive. Tons of great Korean restaurants beyond that as well. Subway access is just across the street from the hotel which is the Fukotoshin line. Easy access to Shinjuku, Shibuya and Harajuku. ||||Overall, good location and a good hotel. This was our 9th trip to Japan. I don't think we'll be staying with APA...
