We stayed here on Aug 31, 2025. 5 stars rating is underrated for this luxurious onsen hotel. The moment you walk in this hotel, your eyes are filled with gorgeous design and well planned lightings. The interior design is just perfect! I think this is a new hotel? Or newly renovated? cos everything is pretty new. The Lounge - Beautifully decorated with gorgeous furniture and decor, combined with a nice Lake view. A bar filled with all sorts of goodies and drinks that are complimentary. The staff - Everyone is friendly and attentive. Their hospitality is top notched. The moment we pulled in the driveway, there's staff to take care of our luggages and our rental car. I had a great massage and my husband enjoyed their brand new gym equipment very much. My daughter was happy to enjoy the onsen all by herself in the room while we were out and enjoyed the facilities. The staff would go out of the way to make sure we get to enjoy the handcrafted coffee after breakfast! O dear, they are just lovely. Location - It situated in one of the best location along the lake coast so we can see the fireworks above us on the roof top. The Food - we sincerely thank Chef Iijima who poured his heart and soul in his food to make guests experience enjoyable. We had a French style dinner and an extensive japanese breakfast. From my dining experience, both meals with such great services combined in other restaurants would cost close to the room price. There are reviews complained about the high price but the price includes these two sumptuous meals, unlimited supply of food and drink in the lounge and snack bar in the room and a spacious room with its own onsen. I honestly think this is a "good value" cos I am not done praising them yet. The room - It's huge and everything is new/maintained v well! It has its own onsen which is big enough for a family of 4 or even 6! The room is nicely decorated. We got two full size beds (if not queen) together and a room with tatami. It can comfortably accommodate 4-6 people. You pay USD1200 for a room at Four Seasons with a Queen size bed only - no food, no service and you have to line up to buy your own coffee at Starbucks :). There was nothing we could criticize on. I found them on google reviews. Thank you everyone who reviewed this hotel so I get to stay here. :) I hope my review also help others to make a smart decision. Enjoy your stay and I hope I get to book this hotel next time (I am afraid they will get too popular that no room is available for me next time I go _) Thank you Bourou_Toya Staff! You All did a very good job! If you see this review, can you email me cos I have something to ask...
Read moreAs a hotel enthusiast who has developed discerning standards from experiences at world-class properties, BOUROU TOYA has carved out a very special place in my heart. It offered a different kind of resonance—one of delicate depth and nuance—compared to the awe I felt at Capella Hanoi and The Oberoi, Marrakesh earlier this year. The true highlight here is the dining experience, a masterful fusion of French and Japanese cuisine.
Every morning and evening, the restaurant transforms from a mere dining space into a complete gastronomic universe. Each dish is a work of art, reflecting the chef's profound experience and culinary philosophy. The incredible attention to detail that elevates the natural flavors of the ingredients, the creative plating that captures the essence of the seasons, and the flawless story and balance woven through the entire course were simply breathtaking. With every bite, it felt as though the chef was communicating a story, creating a moment of deep connection.
The hotel's facilities are equally impeccable. From the stunning views of Lake Toya from the rooftop terrace to the well-maintained fitness and laundry rooms and the cozy basement lounge, every space reflects a deep consideration for the guest experience. The private in-room onsen, enjoyed while breathing in the crisp October air, was the ultimate gift for melting away the fatigues of daily life.
A quick tip: Be mindful that Google Maps may direct you to a vehicle-prohibited road behind the hotel. Valet parking is available for your convenience.
Though my stay was a brief two nights, BOUROU TOYA redefined what 'perfect relaxation' means to me. For anyone seeking a top-tier boutique hotel where exquisite food, beautiful spaces, and genuine warmth converge, I wholeheartedly...
Read moreVery luxurious onsen hotel and the most expensive onsen for one night I ever experienced. The place is awesome and the room is huge with mountains view and in rooms onsen! It looks new, quiet, zen, service are very friendly and pampering . The food was awesome , is a mixed fusion with west dishes with Japanese ingredients, for both dinner and breakfast. I actually enjoyed the breakfast more comparing to dinner.
A few minor details tweaks I think they need is adding more padding on room doors and closet doors because when it shut, it slam shut with very loud noise.
Also Need to mention the only reason I choose to go this place as a foreigner who doesn’t has a car is because there is shuttle bus offered or else it would be too far for me to travel. But the offered bus schedule forced us to arrive hotel only until 4pm and we have to leave the hotel by 9:40am next day, so I feel rushed most of the time and abit ripped off ( close to 2.5 hours lost due to the bus schedule). I wish the bus would pick us up at 11 am instead of 9:30am. I am well aware of the bus schedule before I made the reservation, but after experiencing it, I unfortunately would take a star off as I do feel rushed and not...
