Stayed 1N in a Nonokaze Club executive suite (rm 1608, #6 floor), with exclusive access to Club building facilities and lounge (where check-in occurs). Room is very spacious, including walk-in wardrobe, 2 separate toilets / mini fridges / air purifier, 1 XL walk-in Japanese bathroom with rainshower / handheld spray + indoor private onsen bath (large enough for 3 - 4 pax). Water pressure / temp control is excellent. Room had 1 large window overlooking lake (but only 1 side window can be opened, with insect netting)
We came from Sapporo (hotel offered free daily jumbo bus service to / fro Sapporo (North Exit bus interchange area - staff in yellow jumpers) and New Chitose Airport, around a 2h30min ride. Reservation via website.
Pros Complimentary drinks in fridge (green tea / beer / spring water) + DIY coffee making, including whole beans / grinder / filter Extensive and quality breakfast / dinner buffet, with various live stations, against the lake view setting Spacious onsen facilities (including an outdoor pool at rooftop offering very good view of Lake Toya / Mount Yotei / nightly fireworks (Jun to Oct only). There is also another more private level for bathing, before going into the pools Free jumbo bus service can cater to XL luggages (1 toilet stop provided during journey), but very early pickup at 10am (for Sapporo return) Ryokan style attire / footwear provided for use within hotel / meals / onsen A large souvenir/ gift shop with immediate tax free shopping (min spending required) within the hotel (Select108 shop) + a couple of souvenir shops within 5min walk. ZeroDay (outdoor / hiking shop) is directly opposite the hotel to help with nearby hiking trips 8.45pm daily fireworks at lake front (Jun to Oct only), you can also hop on a ferry to be out in middle of lake when fireworks go off (pier boarding point behind hotel). There are 3 audio setups in the hotel, 2 with proper amp / giant speaker etc (2 of them at Club building, 1 at lobby lounge)
Cons Somehow, only 1 sleeping pillow was provided per bed (but can request for extra) One of the round towel hooks in main bathroom is coming off Can't really keep the small window opened (need to close insect netting), as seagulls roam the waterfront (1 kept coming to the ledge outside the window) Fireworks touted as 20min, but its really more of 7mins per section (as the 2 boats will move to another stretch of lake to perform same fireworks routine). Just don't expect festival style display.
Recommend to take the external buses at a later timing e.g. 1256h (Donan Bus, with bus stop in front of ZeroDay, reservation only) to avoid check-out rush post breakfast.
Also found out post check-out that Lake Toya area is a great place for hiking (ZeroDay shop has all the details), recommend to spend 2N...
Read moreEXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED – WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER!
I am absolutely furious with my stay at your hotel. From start to finish, the entire experience was a disaster. Let me make this very clear: the service and standards here are unacceptable, especially considering how much we paid.
Staff & Service: The attitude of the staff was appalling. Not a single greeting or farewell—no basic courtesy at all. The front desk was always unattended, and guests had to wait around for someone to bother showing up. When staff did appear, they were stone-faced, unhelpful, and couldn’t care less about our needs. We struggled with our luggage and no one offered any assistance. Not even an offer to help or a simple gesture.
Facilities: The lift is ridiculously small—almost impossible to get luggage through without hassle. The room itself had a nice view, but that’s where the positives end. The cleanliness was disgraceful: watermarks were visible in the bathroom, and the room was covered in dust. The AC only blew hot air, making the room unbearably stuffy. When we called for help, the staff were rude and indifferent. All they did was give us a fan—no solution, no apology.
Facilities and shows: At the spa, towels aren’t even provided—you have to bring your own from the room. For a hotel of this price, this is completely unacceptable. The so-called “fireworks” were pathetic and absolutely not worth paying for.
Dining: The buffet dinner was a joke. Very limited options, and when something ran out, it took forever to be refilled. After the buffet, my boyfriend became violently ill in the middle of the night—vomiting and diarrhea. I suspect it was food poisoning. When I asked about a late checkout or to extend our stay due to his illness, I was told the hotel was full, which I can understand. But no one addressed the serious issue of the dinner making us sick—no concern, no apology, nothing.
Security & Staff Attitude: In the middle of the night, I went out to buy medicine and drinks for my sick boyfriend. The staff saw me leave, but when I returned after just five minutes, they questioned my identity and treated me with suspicion and a terrible attitude—even though they had just seen me go out!
Check-out: When we finally checked out, with my boyfriend still unwell, again, no one helped with our luggage and not a single staff member bothered to say goodbye.
Summary: The service at this hotel is absolutely disgraceful. I am beyond angry. For the price we paid, this was a complete rip-off. I have never been treated so poorly by hotel staff anywhere. Rest assured, I will NEVER stay here again, and I will warn as many people as possible to avoid this...
Read moreThis is by far the worst Japanese hospitality I have experienced.
I first emailed the hotel on 10th August morning to inform the hotel that I have a paid reservation made way in advance for mentioned dates and highlighted that it's for my birthday . I also requested to have a king bed.
The email reply came only on the 11th August evening. Reply was "thank you for staying with us on your ANNIVERSARY" even though I clearly said BIRTHDAY. Never mind that. Despite addressing me as Carol, I was asked if I am male or female. Fine, I will overlook that as well.
As to my request for a KING bed, reply was - there is NO king bed, however they will try to put two beds together. GUESS WHAT? BEDS WERE AS SEPARATE AS CAN BE when I checked in. I have stayed in enough hotels to know that it is NOT impossible to make two beds into ONE comfortable bed.
Not only that, the room they allocated me was next to a play gym where they provide balls and mat. Obviously people, adults, adults with kids gather there. So think about the noise with balls bouncing around, on top of adults and kids playing and chatting!!!!
To add to my displeasure, upon checking in, staff informed that dinner is only buffet at restaurant as the other option of Japanese dining has to be booked 5 days in advance. I mean, when I contacted the hotel on 10th August, it was WAY more than 5 days! Despite being infom that I chose to stay with them on my special day, they made no effort in trying to at least secure a dinner seating for the Japanese restaurant for one night out of the three nights I'm staying with them.
The entire experience with this hotel even before I arrive has been poor. What a letdown for paying for such hospitality.
Another issue was the parking. At check in time, there was PLENTY of space available but they said it's for guests with disabilities. Honestly to me, it feels like it's reserved for locals. In the evening at 7pm, i took a walk and it looked to me that the carpark could have accommodated few more cars. Instead, I was made to park a few streets away
Last but not least, they placed a "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" card with DRIED flowers.. Dried up flowers.... What good effort really.......Such auspicious way to welcoming a guest. Sarcasm intended.
Their only saving grace is that the hotel faces Lake Toya. That is about it. This hotel is massively...
