Definitely a hidden gem. The entrance looks a bit secrecy with only an open sign and menu stand in the front. Behind the door that looks like a fire exit, there’s a small warm and cozy space with an antie who kindly welcomed our group, and cook us awesome Asian-western fusion food.
We ordered 7 dishes, all of them are good. Katsudon was a bit salty, but everything else went beyond our expectation. I greatly recommend beef steak, tofu soup and fried oyster. Beef steak is medium cooked and the meat is soft, juicy and taste so great with the sauce and wasabi. Tofu soup is made with attention to detail. Tofu is fried, which gives a really good external texture and make them stay in one piece, and then put into a tasty fish soup. Other dish such as fried oyster, Hamburg steak , prawn ginger salad are well-prepared. I personally like salad sauces here as it mixes well the lime and doesn’t have strong scent.
The service is also great. There are English menu for tourist. The owner also recommended us to watch the firework show and kindly walk us through the starting time and length...
Read moreI have lived in Japan for 20 years (I am Japanese) and the food here was wonderful. The menu is incredibly varied (and affordable! Around1,000 yen for a dish). They also have a premium line of A5 grade high-end beef from around the area (remember Hokkaido is famous for its meat). The prices they offer are excellent - 5,000 yen for Tsukiyaki (HIGHLY recommend!) and 7,000 yen for the steak. We pay easily 5x for this grade of beef in Europe / the US. Because the restaurant is “modest” you will get close to market price. The service is also wonderful - the couple have been doing this for 35 years! Because it is only one person cooking and one person serving, I recommend getting there early (the restaurant is small with few tables). Believe it opens at 5pm. Do go and enjoy the...
Read moreVery cool place. The owner(s) is nice and friendly. They have a English/Japanese mix menu, so it's foreigner friendly.
Only let down was specifically my food (prawn gratin) since it was smaller than I expected for a main meal (on the recommended menu) and only had 3 pieces in it. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious, but I left hungry and not satisfied.
My friends got other things (ramen and a curry pork katsu) and were satisfied.
Overall I recommend it and will go back again if I visit in future, but my recommendation is maybe double check in the size of the dish...
