Stayed there only for 1 night as we were en-route to Niseko.
The location of the hotel is good and easy to find when we drove from Noboribetsu. Outdoor parking space is inside the hotel compound. There is a convenience just opposite the hotel main entrance.
We opted for a 3 person room, and it came with 2 single beds and a tatami. There is a sitting area in the room with 3 floor chairs which is convenient if you wish to sit around and have some family time.
The entrance to the room is quite narrow, and it did created some problem when we were to trying to move luggages in. The wash basin and the entrance to the toilet is next to the entrance. Shower is generally smaller but is manageable.
The heated in the room may be thermostat controlled, and so it keeps going on and off. As such, the room felt cold.
The room is a little dated (have not used a real key instead of a key card to open a hotel room for a long time 🤣), and not there are no wall sockets next the the beds. There is enough space for us to open up 3 medium luggages. No laundry
Dinner and breakfast are provided and it was nice. Dinner is personalized set, and breakfast is a buffet.
The view from the room is fantastic especially in the morning when you can see Mt Yotei, Lake toya and Nakajima. The walk along pavement next to Lake Toya is peaceful, and easy to walk even in Winter.
The hotel is within driving distance to the Usuzan Ropeway, and also near the boat ride that you can take to go Nakajima Island (Island in the middle of Lake Toya).
Overall, the hotel is nice but dated. May stay for additional night just to be able to visit the...
Read moreThis is a 2-star Japanese-style onsen (hot spring) hotel right on Lake Toya with stunning views of the lake, its volcanic hill-island in the middle and snow-capped mountains beyond. The hotel offers a range of accommodation including dorm-style and family rooms with shared bathrooms. The main attraction is the onsen or public baths within the hotel supplied by the natural hot springs in the area - alas, we did not venture into that since we were not sure of the protocol and there was nobody to explain. However, everybody else in the hotel was walking around in their bath kimonos so I guess they used the hotel to its maximum value. ||||We had booked a lake view room with proper beds (not tatami on the floor) which also had an area for floor seating and additional futons, so the room was reasonably large. There was a compact but fully functional bathroom attached (like on a cruise ship!). While the room was comfortable the lobby looked like a shabby old-style shopping centre while the corridors were long and gloomy. ||||Set dinner consisting multiple plates and an elaborate buffet breakfast were included in the tariff which were quite varied...
Read moreWe decided to spend one night in Tōya-ko on our way down to Hakodate and It was definitely worth it. Not only because of the beautiful scenery but also thanks to this hotel.|| It is definitely an old hotel, but in my opinion, it only added to the ,"traditional Japanese" vibe of the place. The room was very spacious for our family of 2 adults and 2 kids, and it was such a pleasant change to other new and modern yet very tiny hotels we normally stay at. Breakfast was excellent, with so many traditional dishes to choose from. And the onsen right in the hotel is another big plus. I'm not a huge fan of the onsen myself, but I absolutely loved the cave looking onsen and the one located outside. ||The whole hotel kind of reminded me of Ryokan. But what is hands downs the best about the place, is the view you get from your room, which is spectacular. The view of the lake Tōya and Mt Yōtei is simply...
