Newer hotel that offers a great deal.
I was a little worried with this hotel being so cheap and a name like LiveMax. We're talking $35-45/night on cheap days. Great value. Weekends can go up to $125. yikes!
Room size is slightly bigger than a business hotel. It's still small, but maybe an extra 10sqft. I know... I know... but it makes a big difference.
Location is in the middle of Yokohama China Town. You can go on a day binge of pearl teas and tons of Chinese food. Motomachi and Minato Mirai is in walking distance. It dies down by 11pm. But there is a 24 hour grocery store if you walk towards the train station. Chukagai Train Station is about a 5 min walk.
Staff is the most lenient I have ever seen in Japan. They leave you to your privacy. They just keep their heads down as you walk in and lightly say "Iterashaimase" when you leave. Other hotels give you a bulky key you have to hand over every time you leave. This one doesn't require that. Just a card.
Breakfast was basic just like many other business hotels. Rice, salad, miso soup, stuff to put on your rice and some western sausage, and eggs. It's an honor system where you write down your name on a piece of paper to say you ate there, but I'm not sure how they charge me.
Bed was comfortable and I slept a good 7 hours every night. I do recommend playing some white noise because some people have kids that run by your door in the early AM.
Laundry? 400-500 yen and it only accepts 100 yen coins. You can buy detergent for 50 yen. And no, it won't dry completely so be ready to hang clothes around your room.
Internet is a little laggy, but stable. 2-10mbps and video lagged at times, but no problem browsing around.
Nothing bad to...
Read moreThe hotel looks decent as you walk up, heard that Chinatown is a happening place, but in actuality, it closes down around 19:00 and there is nothing to do around the area. The hotel is quiet, but your room will not be cleaned unless you stay at least 6 days. Forget the internet, the wifi is 10000% unreliable. If you need to do work online, DO NOT chose this hotel. You will spend the entire day and night trying to get on, then when you get on, you immediately get kicked off. The hotel staff were foreigners that didn’t speak Japanese very well and didn’t speak English, so it was a bit troublesome, they refused to acknowledge me using a translator, so I just kept pushing my passport at them with my reservation number on my phone..after 5-10 minutes they finally understood that I had a reservation. Bathroom to the left, and you can basically see the entire room, the only part that is missing is the head of the bed. That’s all the room there was. This was most worst and most expensive hotel I stayed in during my trip to Japan…this was in Yokohama. Chinatown food...
