Two guys during the morning shift were fantastic. We really liked them and they were so helpful! A big thank you to them. They helped us arrange transportation to wadi rum and were really friendly.
However, it’s not a good hostel. First of all, the hallway to the dorms smelled SO bad. We walk in to the first dorm we were assigned to, and walked right back out. It smelled TERRIBLE, like something had died and was rotting. They moved us to another dorm down the hall, it still stunk but not as bad as the first one, but the smell was manageable. Yellow stains on the sheets, small hairs and dirt where the feet would go, it looked like the sheets hadn’t been cleaned. We ended up sleeping on top of our towels because we didn’t want to risk ‘bothering’ the rude night receptionist. He had a really nasty attitude. I was having issues with the internet and asked if he might be able to help, and I was trying to ask if people typically have issues with the internet at the bottom floor and if there might be another internet to connect to of the hostel, but before I could even finish my question he interrupted me 3 times saying “I don’t know anything about the data,” and instead of letting me finish my question just kept interrupting me repeating this each time I tried to speak. I couldn’t even get a full sentence out without him cutting me off. The WiFi wasn’t working and he said “well, it’s working for me.” Like, is that how you help your guests? Just snub them when they’re asking for help? This was around 10:30, so reception was still open. I would recommend rafiki hostel. We moved there after our first night here and it was far better value for money and all of the...
Read moreIf you want to stay at a place where people are amazingly kind, this is it. Sakher and the rest of the folks running this establishment are professional, generous and extremely kind. I stayed here while on solo travel for one night and honestly if I could, I would have stayed longer. If I'm ever in Jordan for whatever reason, I have another reason to return to Petra. The service was impeccable. The place is spotless and beautiful. The food is home-made, by its true definition - and filling. The decor is bright, colourful and playful. My room was comfy, well thought out and the bedding smelt nice and fresh. I know that's a weird thing to point out, but whatever product they use to wash their laundry works! I felt right at home, which is something I struggle with during short-term stays whenever I travel. The bathroom was as the rest of the facilities were - impeccably maintained and spotless. The water pressure was incredible. I honestly have nothing bad to say about this wonderful place which I only happened to stumble upon because a fellow solo traveller I met had made a booking with them and was headed there. I followed along spontaneously and walked up the hill to Nomads and it was so worth it. Sweaty as I arrived, they had everything I needed to make me feel right at home. By far the best and most random travel decision I've ever made was staying here. Where I needed help, the staff were happy to offer it without expecting anything back. They weren't greedy or trying to trick me into spending more - what they said is exactly what I got. Thank you guys for making my stay wonderful. Stay kind and stay honest. See you someday...
Read moreClean and tidy rooms, a wonderfully large lobby with comfortable sofas and blissful a/c offering a much needed respite from the summer sun. Walking distance from everything, including a pharmacy and supermarket about a 3 minute walk. Superb service and reception. Special accolades to both Sakher and Ibrahim for their exceptional recommendations and explanations of Wadi Mousa and Petra, and arranging a spectacular guide (Abdullah) for myself and a friend from the hostel. They are super knowledgeable and really go out of their way to make everyone’s experience incredible! Breakfast and dinner (when available) are AMAZING and very reasonably priced. Better food than you’d find in most restaurants. Additionally, the lobby, the restaurant, and the rooftop terrace all have an incomparable view of the mountains for sunset. Note: I saw some reviews complaining about the hill - first, that hill is what grants the spectacular view. Second, the whole town is on a hill so everywhere will have some form of steep walking. Also, the hill really isn’t that bad, just take it slow if you need, and if you’d like you can walk the long way around the bridge and it just takes maybe an extra 8-10 minutes of walking. Or take a taxi. Strong wifi throughout the...
