While cheap, there are far better hotels in Almaty. Our trip to Almaty was split in two parts, several days apart. For the first night we stayed in a more expensive central hotel and would say this represented much better value for money.||||In our experience:||||- Don't let the hotel staff book you a taxi. Taxi's booked by hotel staff were 3x more expensive than ones booked elsewhere (we didnt have this problem at other hotels).||||- The breakfast was very poor. One type of sweating cheese and some unappetising meat (both with flies) and bread.||||- The hotel is a fair way from the centre, you will want to book taxis to get most places.||||- There was only one towel (for two of us) and the crisps from the minibar were already eaten.||||- The room was okay. The bed was clean and room well decorated but the toilet was dirty. There was also a huge dead moth on the floor when we arrived.||||All in all, with having to get taxis to and from the hotel we ended up spending about the same as if we had booked a nicer, more central hotel. As such, we would definitely recommend...
Read moreMy uncle pays ahead for next 2 days. Comes evening lady awaits by my door to tell me that I must move to area walled of by semi-transparent windows in main hall. Just before that I meet the proprietor for him to suggest that my pie is meant for him as if it were a misunderstanding to then entirely contend with my uncle and my complaining about my living quarters.||||Then there's no hot water something that's merely risky to take shower with, or dodgy internet. Upon me looking through booking.com in order to move in protest as my uncle decided to afford I can't help but think I that I heard proprieter through the see-through "walls" ask if I were to leave a review after which I was moved the "2 bed room" without sockets and same water situation (do not reccomend). Only the mattress is better, but the booking.com where the booking does occur doesn't let review without said electronic booking.||||Mine you some of the rooms with the great views happen to incorporate the city night lights no less than 10 meters away. Then there's literal buzz somewhere...
Read moreStandard hotel with 5 star service.
The hotel is what it is, simple yet clean, good view and location.
What stands out here was the amazing service I got from 2 particular staff members here. The night staff (Farman) was good enough to even walk me to a local store to make sure i didn't get lost. The Day Staff (Raphael) was much the same, taking time out to help me fget a PCR test and even running to the restaurant when i was 1 minute away from missing out on Breakfast. I mean honestly these guys give service akin to 5 star concierges. They became the highlight of my stay.
Hotel wise would be nice to see them renew their pillows, mine were VERY high and lumpy and i needed to find alternative solutions. Also be aware of the razors, it would be better to not offer them at all than to give one that is so frustratingly blunt that it's pretty much useless.
They Baymax restaurant downstairs is really cool also and a good place to...
