I honestly don’t understand how this hotel has received such high ratings. My experience was far from satisfactory, and I have a long list of drawbacks to highlight.
Lack of Air Conditioning The rooms do not have air conditioning. While it’s true that Almaty generally has a cool climate, there are days in late March and April when the afternoons can get quite hot. Without air conditioning, staying in the room during the daytime becomes extremely uncomfortable.
Not at All Indian-Friendly Many booking websites claim that this hotel is Indian-friendly, but unfortunately, that was not the case. There were no vegetarian options available for breakfast, and when we requested something vegetarian, the staff acted as if they were doing us a favor. Despite multiple requests, they outright refused to prepare anything vegetarian.
Additionally, the staff had very limited English proficiency, making communication difficult.
Poor Soundproofing The rooms are not soundproof at all. Since there’s no air conditioning, we had to leave the windows slightly open for ventilation. As a result, we were constantly disturbed by traffic noise, even on the fourth floor. To make things worse, there were intoxicated individuals making noise throughout the night, making it nearly impossible to sleep.
Misleading Tour Services A man named Kairat, associated with the hotel, convinced us to book sightseeing tours through him. Trusting him was a huge mistake, as he ended up cheating us. This was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.
The Only Positive: Exceptional Bellboy The only good part of our stay was a bellboy named Lawyer. He was genuinely kind, helpful, and professional—one of the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing experience.
Final Verdict: Not Recommended for Indian Travelers I strongly advise my fellow Indian travelers to avoid this hotel. The lack of basic amenities, unhelpful staff, and overall unpleasant experience make it a...
Read moreThe room was nice and the hotel location is very nice, but we had a situation that upset us a lot from an employee on 12/10/2024 at approximately 11:00 in the morning. This employee took advantage of us and accused us of lying, and she also lied to us. You are able to restore the surveillance cameras because I do not know the employee’s name. Instead of asking us if something happened to us because of the hot water or telling us thank God for safety, she accused us of being the reason. She asked us if we opened the window with the heater and we told her that we did not do that. It is not the first time we have gone to Kazakhstan and we are not children to do this thing. Then she said that the cleaning lady entered to clean the room while we were outside and closed the window because we left it open and the heater was also open. Before we left, we closed the window because we knew that the weather outside was cold and we wanted the room to be warm. We told her that this was wrong and that if there was negligence in maintenance, it is not our problem. Then she said that you did this in In the morning, we told her that she told us that we did it yesterday, so how was there no mistake yesterday and it happened today? How can she say that we did this in the morning and before that she said that we did it yesterday? She did not stick to her words and we asked her where is hotel manager, then she said that she is the manager and we know that she is not the manager and we said to her in a loud voice where is the manager and she said that she is not here. She fooled us as if we were children and asked us for 100,000 in Kazakh currency and we did not pay because we didn’t something wrong , then she said pay the amount you want. We were very upset because of this fooling and we were going to call the embassy when she saw that we were going to call the embassy, she retracted everything and her words and we did not pay...
Read moreWe stayed for 2 nights at the Renion Park Hotel. It is walkable distance to the Panfilov park, the Ascension Cathedral, Arbat Street, the Green Market and the Central Mosque. It is also close to a lot of restaurants and cafes and it was perfect for us. Their breakfast was really good and one of the best that we have had in the stans - salads, fruits, nuts, yogurt, eggs, pancakes and a lot of other options and desserts. Though they do not allow you to take anything from the breakfast area. For folks like us who like to just eat a salad for breakfast, it is hard because I like to take some bread or a croissant to eat an hour later. Maybe they can relax that rule a little bit. ||Room was perfectly ok and clean, no issues with it at all. There is a kettle in the room if you want to make some coffee or tea and they do have a mini fridge in the room as well. Our room had enough space to open two suitcases.||The hotel also arranged for us a tour to Big Almaty Lake, though the tours can be a tad more expensive than hiring an independent tour/taxi guide to the lake. ||We came back to Almaty a few days later after checking out of the hotel. We had a late night flight and had left our luggage at the luggage storage at the airport and since we nearly had a 10 hour layover in Almaty, we went back to Almaty to the green bazaar and have dinner in Almaty. Since our flight was late night, we went back to the hotel and explained our circumstance and they allowed us to crash on the side sofa in the reception area and get a few hours of sleep before the flight. That was really nice of the hotel to allow us to get some rest and was greatly appreciated. ||Definitely will come back and stay at this hotel on any future...
