We booked a small room without air conditioning for 11 nights. Weeks before our arrival we tried to change the room to one with air conditioning. It took over a week to get a response from the company after sending whatsapps and emails and they said it was possible to switch the room. After confirming the other room we got a message that somebody else had booked the room now, even though we could see in the booking system that there was availability. When we arrived after a night in the original room with over 30 degrees at night and ants in our bed, a room with air conditioning and windows was suddenly available, which we had booked at the normal price for 5 nights (no discount, no accommodation for us), but we were still told to stay in our original room for the last four nights. That was simply unbearable for us with over 30 degrees Celsius and 80% humidity at night. So we paid the full price for a room for 4 nights which we didn't use and moved to another hotel.
Furthermore, the communication with the owner Linzie was absolutely strange, she always communicated through the staff at the reception (no personal communication or even a phone call). We really tried to find a compromise but she always hid behind her policies, the staff at the reception and was not entering any of our proposals. Additionally, every room bill we received from her contained errors, to us it seemed like she was trying to trick us. It's just sad, with a normal person/host we definitely could have found a solution that would be okay for both sides. Ultimately we didn't feel welcome during our stay. Therefore, we would not recommend the B&B if you are looking for a unique and heartwarming experience. Apart from that we have to say that the restaurant was great and the staff was overall really nice, especially Alex from housekeeping.
By law she was right with her own cancellation policy, but is that...
Read moreWonderful! We had the Tribal room which is beachfront, second floor, over the restaurant. There is a room on either side, and each has its own outdoor living room and deck area. Fortunately we had quiet neighbors.
Tribal is a nice big room with a big bed and lovely tented mosquito netting, very tastefully decorated, (as are the common spaces), lots of hanging and shelf space, a couch and a desk/vanity. The bathroom is large and attractive and has a dresser. Along with two large beach towels, they provide a straw beach bag which is a lovely touch.
The beach could not be prettier, fine white sand, palm trees and the gorgeous ocean. There are sufficient daybeds for the guests and the hotel beach area is raised up so you have an easier time avoiding the beach boys trying to sell you things that might not really exist.
The staff are excellent. The housekeeping staff is especially warm and friendly and helpful. Seeing that we had hand washed some clothing and hung it in the bathroom, when we were away, she put it all out in the sun to dry. They drop your mosquito netting at night and put it up again during the day. They remake the bed. It's all very nice.
The restaurant is quite good, and certainly convenient. If you make a reservation you get a better seat, closer to the beach. There are restaurants at the resorts on either side as well. And, you can walk up the drive (a bit steep, rocky, and a bit long) and grab a tuk tuk to take you anywhere else.
The three rooms up here share a communal kitchen, so you can pick up some groceries or wine or whatever and keep it safely there.
Excellent Wi-Fi, even...
Read moreWe have travelled extensively and truly understand what good hospitality looks like. If you want to spend your money at a place with attentive, responsible owners — this is not the place to go.||||We stayed in The Bandit room and raised several concerns:||• Constant noise and no privacy for the children, whose sleeping area was essentially open and right next to a busy road.||• The “sofa” was nothing more than a cement base with a thin mattress on top.||• The shower was cold, with barely any water pressure.||• The bathroom smelled strongly of rotten eggs.||• Our laundry was ruined — returned smelling like stagnant, dirty water.||||The list goes on.||||When we tried to address these issues, the owner didn’t even speak to us directly. Instead, we were told through the staff that she had no intention of meeting us. The response to our complaints was simple: if you’re not happy, you should leave. No attempt at a solution. No apology. No compensation.||||The property itself has clearly been neglected — old and dirty mattresses, stained sheets, and a general sense that no investment has been made in upkeep. Two years ago, this may have been a lovely place. Now, it feels like they’ve stopped caring, focusing only on profit at the expense of quality.||||Ask yourself: do you want to fund an arrogant owner who avoids unhappy guests, leaving her staff to deal with the fallout? Or would you rather choose an alternative that values its visitors?||||For us, the answer is clear:...
