Why this diving centre has got all 5 star reviews earlier is to me a mystery! I’m not the most experienced diver but done my fair share of diving in Australia, South-East Asia and Zanzibar before where I took my license long time ago! I was told by the manager that the diving conditions here were much better than in Zanzibar which was not true by any means, medium to poor visibility and not much diversity in corals and marine life! Diving conditions around here probably decent for the first timers but wouldnt recommend if you’ve been diving at other locations around the world! But my main issue that I’m writing this review is the lack of information and what I felt was arrogant and condescending behaviour by one of the crew members. I brought a friend that hadnt been diving for about 30 years and our divemaster wanted to bring us to do a wreck dive as we go on the boat with a group of 3 and 4! He initially got the information and changed it to what was 7-15 meter coral dive moving slow in what seemed to be every random direction. I belive that diving is all about feeling safe and comfortable, especially when you havent been diving for a long time! Sorry for not remembering the diving terms, but I had an issue with my regulator and didnt feel comfortable when it didnt stop «winding» when pushing the button and I almost had to insist on changing it and they made me feel stupid for asking to do so. My two diving buddies were struggling in the water with the buoancy and we only did half a dive on the last one when one of them ascensed to the surface. Young divemaster not being tentantive about the group and moving and a too slow of a pace which actually makes it harder to follow when theres currents! The organising of the boat and equipment not impressive either in any way! I dont write reviews often but seeing this is a 5 star diving experience makes write this long review! I’m giving it 2 star because I’ve spent a lot of time in East Africa and I know that things are moving slow and my expectations are according to this. If this was anywhere else I would give it 1 star! Will not dive in Mombasa again and definetely not with Yellow Fins! 100 USD for two short dives is also way...
Read moreI just completed my Discover Scuba Diving PADI recognition with Yellow Fins, and I'm already planning my return! From start to finish, the team was incredibly professional and made what could have been an intimidating experience feel safe and exciting.
The two-day program was perfectly structured. Day one began with a thorough training session in the pool, where I got hands-on experience with all the gear and learned the fundamentals. The instructor took their time walking me through everything, ensuring I felt confident before moving to open water.
Day two was pure magic – two incredible dives that opened my eyes to an entirely new world! The marine life was spectacular: colorful fish everywhere, the most adorable sleeping sea turtles (seriously, they melted my heart!), impressive lobsters, and even an eel that made my day. There's something so beautifully peaceful about life underwater that photos just can't capture. Special shoutout to Omar, my diving instructor, who was patient, encouraging, and made the whole experience genuinely fun. His expertise and enthusiasm really made the difference.
As a bonus, the grilled king prawns at the beachside location were absolutely delicious – the perfect way to celebrate after diving!
My only regret? Not being able to stay longer! I'm already excited to return later this year to get my Open Water Diver certificate with the same team.
If you're considering scuba diving in Diani, I can't recommend Yellow Fins highly enough. Professional, safe, and...
Read moreWe joined both the diving and fishing trips with Yellow Fins and had a great overall experience!
For the diving trip, visibility and current weren’t really in our favor that day, but our dive instructor handled everything professionally and made sure we felt safe and comfortable throughout. You could really tell he knew what he was doing, and he kept the group calm and positive even when conditions weren’t ideal.
As for the fishing trip, we initially communicated that we’d want to be doing jigging only, but it turned out to be more of a trolling and handlining session instead. Since we were new to fishing, it ended up being a bit more of a “sit and wait” experience than expected. That said, the boss (Shee) handled the situation really well — he was rational, understanding, and took the time to talk things through with us. He made sure everything was resolved fairly and that we left with smiles on our faces.
Overall, while there were some small hiccups, the professionalism and attitude of the team — especially Shee — really stood out. We believe in sharing honest feedbacks so that improvements can be made to serve others even better. Would still highly recommend trying their diving trip, as that’s where their expertise...
