My favorite beach bar down there. Super friendly staff, really good and fresh food, fantastic location. One time late in the evening I forgot my money at home and they allowed me to come back and pay the next day. Super nice move, all thumbs up! Really busy at Saturday/Sunday, so come Monday to Friday. Favorite dishes: beef samosa, chips masala, swahili chicken, beef filet in mushroom gravy, chicken chasseyi, grilled king fish.
Only a few beach boys there. Next to the bar you can rent jet-ski, kitesurfing equipment, get a massage (1500 KES per hour) or book a trip to Wasini Island.
A few meters away from the bar you'll find the local fishermens cold storage, so if you're cooking yourself at home, give it a try and buy some fresh fish there. You can ask them to clean it for you. The bluespotted grouper on one of my photos did cost 350 KES (2,70€ / 3$).
So... absolutely recommend. Go and spend some money there to support local people and keep this place...
Read moreLast evening’s meal here was a disaster! I ordered the English-style fish fillets - what arrived at the table looked like a plate of crisps accompanied by French fries (delicious) and a very passable salad. There were 8 or 9 breaded wafers on the plate which, upon closer inspection turned out to have slivers of white fish in each. I thought it would have been impossible to have been sliced so thinly, but that would be underestimating the chefs knife skills. By my estimates, there could have been no more than 10/15 grams of fish in total. What made it worse though, was that the breading dominated the fish and being fried in recycled oil did nothing to improve its edibility. My gf had her favourite, grilled taffi and, whilst it went well at the time of eating, she parted company with it several during the night. I think it was no coincidence that we were the...
Read moreLet me just say, the fish fingers got me... well, that and the chips (french fries). These potatoes were less starchy and plain, crispy and sweeter than western ones (I'm American). The service was excellent every time we came. When we sat down, we'd be greeted very quickly and assisted. I recommend that if you visit Diani, please spent at least one afternoon here. Let them show you hospitality and even if you don't eat fish, have the french fries. They're that good. It's about 2-3 minutes walk directly off the main road where tuk tuks are plenty. Beach is right in front of you, sand right below your feet, plenty to just enjoy and forget work and stress. This is my favorite locally owned beach bar/restaurant in Diani. I'll be back....
