I had a very disappointing experience at Sails in Diani Beach on December 28th. I ordered the salad, which was mediocre at best—nothing special and definitely not worth the price. My friend had the crab spaghetti pasta, and it was completely bland—lacking flavor, seasoning, and the richness you’d expect from a dish featuring crab. Another friend at the table ordered the crab gratin, which was also disappointing. It lacked flavor and had a texture more like baby food than a well-prepared dish.
What made the experience even worse was the attitude of the staff and manager. When we raised our concerns politely, the staff seemed indifferent, and the manager flat-out refused to take the crab spaghetti off the bill. They insisted it was “not fair” to do so, even after we explained how poor the quality was. There was no apology or effort to make things right—just a dismissive and unprofessional attitude that soured the entire meal.
For a restaurant with such a reputation, this level of poor food quality and bad customer service is unacceptable. Subpar dishes might be forgivable if the staff showed care or professionalism, but this experience left us feeling dismissed and disappointed. I won’t be returning, and I can’t recommend it to others looking for good food or...
Read moreThere might be a name mispell for the name of the restaurant : it should be Fails instead of Sails. We had 3 mistakes from the waiter in one single dinner : we ordered beef carpaccio (I even showed this on the menu) but eventually we got beetroot carpaccio. We made the remark but we were kind enough not to make a fuss about this. The waiter just said sorry. we ordered fries to go along with the kid's beef on the menu. Instead we got rice. My English is far from perfect but still there's a difference between rice and fries... The waiter said sorry again and was happy we didn't make him change the side. I ordered a glass of red wine and instead I got... nothing. The waiter just forgot and I let it go after the previous mistakes. Fortunately it was not on the bill. Regarding the bill, it seems the waiter didn't know how to correctly operate the credit card machine. He just presented it without entering the due amount as if it would work by magic by itself. Well, that was disappointing from a restaurant that is so highly recommended in Diani. The food was OK though and the...
Read moreI visited this restaurant for lunch on December 28th, and I must say, it was a major disappointment compared to our experience last year. Previously, the food and service were much better, but this time around, it was a letdown.
I ordered the chili crab pasta, which was bland and lacked any flavor. My friend had the Thai red curry, which was excessively salty. The oysters were also disappointing—small and slimy. While the wine was good and the ambiance pleasant, the food quality has clearly declined.
When we shared our concerns with the manager, Emanuel, he refused to remove the returned dishes from the bill, including the chili crab pasta, which we sent back immediately. Instead, he only offered a 10% discount, which felt inadequate given the poor experience.
It’s disheartening to see how much this place has changed in just a year. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend it based on this visit. Improvements in both food quality and service are...
