It should be zero stars. Everyone should know what happened to us, be warned.||||My partner and I were flying to Nairobi from Turkey and were to land incredibly early in the morning, 3:30am, so we asked Harry’s BnB if they could provide an airport pick up. Ben replied to us and said it would be no problem at all and would cost $15. Either he or his nephew would pick us up. Ben gave me his WhatsApp number and assured me that the airport had Wifi so could message him once we landed. ||||After a long day of travel and maybe a couple hours of sleep we finally landed in Nairobi. Once through customs I connect to the wifi and immediately message Ben to let him know we have arrived. We don’t see anyone that looked like they might be there to pick us up, only taxi drivers. Half an hour passed and I hadn’t heard back. ||||A couple of taxi drivers were nice enough to help us out by trying to give Ben a call. After multiple times trying to call we couldn’t get through. Staying positive and hopeful we opt’d to wait a bit longer in hopes that Ben would answer my message. ||||At this point an hour had gone by and we hadn’t heard from Ben at all. Another taxi driver was able to help us out by trying his phone number again. We finally got a hold of Ben. He said that he was trying to get a hold of me, not true. I had not received ANY messages from him, either through WhatsApp or Booking.com messaging. Apparently his phone was dying and he was 70 miles away from the city and was unable to pick us up. So what about his nephew? Or any other staff member?||||The taxi driver offered to take us to Harry’s BnB for double the price we had been offered through Ben. The driver said maybe Ben would be inclined to pay the difference so we called Ben back. Ben said that that was way to much to take us to the location and would not pay the difference. Ben suggested that we either take the taxi or try Uber, but we would be paying for all of it ourselves without any compensation from the BnB. We ended up getting an Uber||||Finding Harry’s BnB was next to impossible, especially in the dark. There is no proper address given and there was NO signage to be found. After driving around for quite some time and asking anyone who was awake where this place was, finally we got an address number. Driving up to the gate, we honked and knocked to get someone to let us in, no one. We gave the driver Ben’s number and called multiple times, no answer. Honking and knocking again, still no answer. By this point our driver was getting annoyed at us. Not wanting be dropped off somewhere unfamiliar in the dark with all our stuff we paid the driver extra to take us somewhere with wifi.||||Through the kindness of some really amazing people we were able to find another place to stay. However because it was such short notice we ended up having to double our accommodation budget.||||I didn’t hear from Ben until 1:30pm where I got a lacklustre apology, 10hrs from when I had last talked to him telling us to get an Uber.||||The unprofessionalism of Ben is something that I have not experience in my 5 months of travelling. I’m completely appalled by being abandoned the way that we were and thinking of all of the ‘what if’s’ that could have happened to us because of what he did...
Read moreThis amongst a few other b&b's in Kenya has proven to me that this market still has a long way to go in terms of hospitality. Seems to me that most of these places are opened by inexperienced individuals for the sake of making a quick buck. Sad to say that this is probably one of the better ones my husband and I have encountered in Nairobi while on a budget. The 1st time was when we came down for our wedding. Having gone through 2 horrible experiences, we eventually found a hotel close to the airport that was satisfactory. ||My husband and I have recently relocated to Kenya. The 1st b&b we found was deplorable to say the least. We found Harry's online last minute and ended up staying here.||Massive property. Owners and family stay on the same property. Their presence is felt around the property and in the bnb especially on the weekends. There is a lot of traffic in and out of the compound. Different cars and individuals coming in and out. The bnb is basically equipped with the bare minimums. It is indicated to be a bed and breakfast but in essence there is only bed. Kitchen is self service. Lounge has only chairs, no curtains, no tv etc. ||They offer water, coffee and tea, also dishwashing liquid, etc when you arrive, however, once these are depleted one has to buy more from their own pocket despite paying the same amount everyday or at the very least clarifying this from the booking phase. Wifi only works in the lounge and kitchen and barely in the bedrooms. We recieved one towel for the 2 of us to share and never got a replacement when it was dirty. We had to wash it ourselves, dry it and re-use. Kitchen bin rarely gets emptied. ||Only plus is that it is located in a gated community. Mosquitoes are rampant. Bring your own repellent. Bring your own food and all other necessities. This is more a backpackers than it is a bnb. There is zero vibe. A bit of a buzz kill for individuals looking to get a feel...
Read moreit is a scam. please be advised not to visit the place Around August this year, we were looking for the place on google, and followed the directions given until it led us to the destination. On getting there no one knew where the place was yet our map insisted that we had arrived. So we decide to call the number provided on their website, the guy sounded strange, but we went ahead and enquired where the place was because we would like to stay for a day. He goes ahead and says let me confirm then i will call you right back. Upto date we are still waiting on his call. He never even reached to us to inform us whether or not there is accomodation even worse direct us where the property was because we had informed him that we were abit lost. So that i think it is a scam is not out of my own liking rather how we were...
