MaMa Boutique Hotel & Restaurant — Hotel in Jūrmala

I was really disappointed with this hotel considering the reviews were so good. We felt very unwelcome. I had booked the design apartment but was told I had booked a different room but could have the design apartment (it was confusing!) but that didn’t really match the picture advertised. The room wasn’t particularly comfortable , just awkward with the low ceilings and not really much space to relax. No sofa as pictured. The bathroom had no toiletries and there was a bath with a shower attachment but you couldn’t stand under the shower. The design is over the top and kitsch. The room wasn’t cleaned after night one. |But for me the worst was that we had breakfast included. We had to choose this the day before. When we came to breakfast we were the only people there , the landlady (I assume?) brought us our order , gave us a coffee, then disappeared. We had no offer of a second coffee. On the table there was some nicely presented fruit and a croissant each and a piece of rye bread. The first day I had ordered eggs and bacon and they came with nothing else (no toast/bread). |The second day I ordered the cheese and ham sandwich and it was delicious but my coffee had run out. Wanted to love this place as so quirky but very disappointed. On the plus side close to beach and restaurants and the breakfast was excellent. But outweighed by negatives. Running of place seemed to be in hands of a girl barely out of her teens. Sweet but out of her depth. On arrival neither the room safe or tv working. Later found at least 2 of the plug sockets didn't work. Room very small. Glass toilet door meant you could view each other on the loo. Worst pillow I have ever had. We went out at about 6.30 and asked for 2 more and were told would be ready on our return. At 9.15 whole place locked up and in darkness ( you have keycard access through side door). No sign of pillows. Room incredibly noisy. Trains, road noise, room above us moving stuff around till 2am, someone playing music till early hours. Such a bad night that we moved hotels for our second night in Jurmala. Didn't seem worth asking for a refund as the girl couldn't even sort safe or...

Every year during my holiday break in Latvia, I'm staying in the hotel "MaMa".|I feel so comfortable, so welcoming when I came to stay there. |The designer elements of the hotel are just fantastic. |The owner family is friendly, always spoil their guest and make sure that everyone gets the best service.| The restaurant menu still is different, they change it every season and put in something new. The food is excellent; the drink list is various, the breakfast is enormous and delicious. |The rooms are clean.
