To summarize ||||The concept of Fontaine Hotel is great, unique kitschy rooms, some rock, a bar everything in one spot. But it is miserably run, staff simply ignore basic things about customer care and hosteling. And they destroy every inch of the potential this place has. ||||In a few words||||- Terrible experience. ||- Bad, really bad staff ||- There were droppings spread over my shower drain (they are lucky because my phone broke during the trip and I still don't have the filthy shower drain photos with me - but in case I recover the photos, I will make sure to post them). I told reception about this and they have done absolutely nothing about it. ||.The Annex building seems more like a Guesthouse, without reception, with a common kitchen and a common room rather than a hotel.||||I have been to 50 countries, hundreds of cities, stayed at hundreds of hostels, cheap and expensive hotels, guesthouses, private apartments and houses and this is one of the worst places I have ever stayed at. ||||Avoid Fontaine Hotel (just a kitschy poorly run guesthouse, in my opinion).||||__||More details ||||During the stay||||When I arrived at the reception (which is also a bar and a café) to check in, the only available staff was too busy preparing pancakes, talking to her mom on the phone and chatting on WhatsApp. He barely could check if my room was ready or not. After patiently waiting for around 15 minutes, he was capable to tell me that the room would be only ready around 3 PM but I could drop my stuff there (my room was located at the Annex building). He asked me if I knew the Annex building and despite of my negative answer, he did not stop for a minute in his pancake stuff and just told me:||||"Take left, go to the parking lot and you will find it, if you don't find, come back here. I am too busy to show you where the other building is right now"||||I was able to find the spot, left my stuff at the room (which had to be cleaned) and went to have lunch. ||2 hours later, I got back into reception and the same guy was still preparing pancakes. Waited again for him to come to me and ask what I wanted, and I simply asked him if he could recommend me a rock bar for the evening, because it seemed that the Fontaine Palace bar (that seemed to be part of the same group of Fontaine Hotel) would have a DJ with dance music in the evening... his answer:||"I don't know today’s Fontaine Palace bar schedule and it is not totally true that we belong to the same group. By the way, I don't know any other rock bar either, I am not from Liepaja. And I am too busy right now. Sorry"||and he came back to his pancakes. ||||The reception staff could not give proper attention nor information to a guess because he was busy preparing pancakes, not once but twice. It is as hilarious as absurd. ||||Got to my room and the shower drain had droppings on it. Went back to reception and luckily the shift changed and there a couple was in charge, none of them preparing pancakes. Grabbed my chance and told the guy that there were droppings at my shower drain. He apologized and he seemed sincere. Told me they would clean the shower/bathroom promptly. ||||Went out for drinks a couple of hours later and the droppings were still there just as iI had left them some hours before. Since I was going to leave that filthy place 6 hours later, I just gave up on complaining. ||||I could not be happier when I left that building and promised to never...
Read moreVERY BAD experience! The hotel staff didn’t inform us that in the “garden” heavy metal music plays until 2AM! And it plays loud! Our room window was just near the speaker. This was driving mad not only me but also my 7 years old child. I called to reception to ask to lower down the volume because it is impossible to sleep and in the room tries to sleep also my 7 years old child but the cheerful guy on the phone promised “to do something” and nothing had changed. The torment went on until 2AM! But that’s not all – the music started playing at 8AM! So you can imagine how much sleep we had after intensive day visiting Liepaja. I am not against the music but I didn’t come here to music festival. The hipster staff didn’t give a damn that together with me there is also a small child. Thank you for the “hospitality” - we are really impressed how you “care” about the guests and run the business!||Liepaja – is very attractive place and I am sure to come back to this nice and...
