Finally a new gem in Liepāja! This spot used to be a candy shop “Serenāde” where you came for authentic milkshakes and could buy coffee + 2 candies. Now the place looks much more different but still has the great vibe! The interior is beatuful - special details everywhere.
The staff was super kind and clearly enjoy working there. My favourite was the bartender who was shaking up a bloody mary for me, and after pouring most of it in the glass, tried the leftover cocktail to check the taste and smiled in delight because of how good it was.
The cocktails we tried were classic yet with a little cheery on top. Alcohol quality was above average, I’d say.
Appetizers were not big in terms of portion size, but this was perfect since we wanted to try multiple. The peppers with miso butter was a good combo and happy to say that they use fresh ingredients for the spicy sauce that came with corn fritters.
From main courses we ordered beef pad see (my favourite since it was a bit acidic/mildly spicy) and green curry with chicken, which was very mild for a curry (I would have preferred something more flavourful).
The passionfruit and coconut dessert was fantastic!!
The prices are above average for Liepāja, but quality service costs.
I am coming back again to try the rest of the menu, no doubt...
Read moreWe decided to share an appetizer and try three different main dishes. We started with the pork and shrimp dumplings, which were perfectly steamed and packed with flavor. The filling was juicy and well-seasoned.
Among the mains, the duck curry was outstanding. The duck was tender, swimming in a rich, aromatic curry that was both comforting and deeply flavorful. It’s a dish I would come back for again and again. Another standout was the tom yum rice with seafood and mushrooms. It was exceptional, each bite was bold, tangy, and full of complexity. A truly inspired take on a classic flavor. The pad Thai, while decent, didn’t quite reach the same heights. It was enjoyable but felt a little flat compared to the other dishes, perhaps lacking the brightness or depth that made the others so memorable.
To pair with our meal, we had a chilled glass of Prosecco, which was crisp and refreshing, absolutely spot on alongside the spices and richness of the food. We also tried a non-alcoholic lychee drink; it was nice, lightly floral and sweet, though not as memorable as the rest of the experience.
Overall, this was a wonderful meal with some unforgettable highlights. We left full, satisfied, and wishing we could back again. Highly...
Read morePlace itself looked great and really promising. Maybe it was just a bad luck but the food unfortunately was pretty far from our expectations taking the relatively high prices in accaunt. The massaman curry was really far from being authentic. I’m ok with quality interpretations, but it even didn’t taste awesome + a small portion. It was really salty and thick, not sour + sweet and fragrant like most Thay foods are. Usually in thailand you get the curry in a bowl like a soup where you can submerge the rice. The amount of the “sauce / soup” was tiny. There were totally unnecessary fried onions (the ones you buy packaged in supermarket) on top that made it feel even more cheap. My wife had Udon noodles with some meat. The noodles tasted great but the meat was...
