Too bad how lousy service can actually mess with the image of any outlet. Too excited to try casablanca after positive feedback, on a rainy eve went to enjoy a relaxing dinner with a friend. From where to start! First the entrance poorly lit a bit too much, we took the stairs unsure if it was open or not we headed up and finally stumbled upon the bartender who was a bit confused to see us and till i asked what time they open he said 8 something, it was rainy and it was 7:40 i asked if we could sit and wait then a waiter came with full disgusted face asking who are u with i was like with ourselves! He said no reservation i said did not think there is a need on a tuesday. Anyway we left and came back at 8:15 went up the same stairs where no one welcomes u and reach the floor to find waiters lost in their world i asked if we can now be seated and they started discussing where they could seat us and waived to a waiter to a certain table number to which no one escorted us. Deep breaths again we were handed the menu that included only seafood options and my friend is a vegetarian we were struggling to finally hardly find a salad very basic, i asked if some feta or goat cheese could be added and our waiter said nope then suggested to remove the shrimps out of the summer rolls. Oh and ofcourse the cheap enforcement of the bottle of water that lands before the menu and don't know why high end resto still think they have to do that. Anyways the organic salad was ok but the summer rolls should probably be called fall rolls as much as they were unappealing lacking freshness and not tasty at all poorly presented as well. I asked for the shrimps on the side but they smelled too fishy. Overall between the lousy service and the food we had a very bad experience. My friend ordered the chocolate tart that is served with a scoop of ice-cream it was ok but the sauce was hardly some milk and cocoa so we did not use it. We were very deceived, such a beautiful location and setting ruined...
Read moreHad high hopes, as my wife used to frequent this establishment in the past, however this latest outing we were not impressed. The food is an attempt at Japanese cuisine. We were expecting North African, given the name/history. Their attempt at Japanese was reminiscent of 90s era American/French Chains with an awful twist. White fish carpaccio with dried oregano and olive oil that was a miss, the rest was ok. Overall the meal was ok, at best, but definitely not worth the cost. The service was also not great, after the food service was done we still had a bottle of wine at the table that we poured ourselves as our server had abandoned us, until we requested the check. Then, we were accused of using counterfeit currency for using "old" bills. This led to an argument with the staff, needless to say we won't return.
TLDR: If you want Japanese food just to somewhere else. This isn't worth the cost...
Read moreWe were informed that booking a table here required planning weeks in advance, but our last-minute reservation led us to the bar seating. On the menu, there are several standout dishes that I highly recommend trying, including the grilled octopus, mushroom creations, and their unique fusion sashimi. To conclude the meal on a sweet note, do not miss the cheesecake; it's a true delight.
However, my decision to assign three stars primarily stems from the cost relative to the quality. While the fusion of Asian and Mediterranean flavors is intriguing, I ultimately found that it didn't quite justify the high price tag. Still, I felt compelled to see what all the...
