Riviera — Hotel in Dar Mreisse

an absolute nightmare!!!! usually when I am on holiday, I spend a lot of time on tour, site-seeing and of course partying, but then at the end of the day I love going back to hotel, a tidy and quiet place to relax and refresh for the next day, then to wake up to a beautiful view while choosing my breakfast from a well prepared buffet by the pool and spending sometime sun bathing …. If this is something that you are looking for and by looking at the pictures of this hotel you think this is the place, well!!! I am sorry but you are wrong as we were. First of all on our arrival we found out that after we made our booking their policy have changed and for each day that you wish to use the pool you have to pay $15!!! We did argue and show them our booking confirmation but all they did was repeating themselves that this is their rules and showed us a copy of their small print and of course we were never heard even though that terms and condition was changed after we booked. So without notifying you they will decide to have a new policy and they will not care if you are not happy. I never understood how they calculated but at the check-in we had to pay another £125 extra??????we asked again and again and they explained but to be honest I wasn’t convinced but I had no choice either but making the payment. There is a tunnel from the hotel to the pool and breakfast buffet so each time that you are going to have breakfast, as if you are a criminal, there are many security men in khaki uniforms to make sure that you are not using their stupid pool facility and they will constantly look at you and ask you question and call each other on their talkie-walkie and even if you are in your bikini to sun bath by the pool they are not shy to be around you all the time and check on you again and again one after another. I cannot describe how uncomfortable it was to the point that my husband who is one the gentlest man finally lost his temper and had a go at them and never came by the pool again. The breakfast buffet was the poorest of ever seen but we did manage for few days until the 3rd day of Ramadan when they suddenly decided not to have buffet and we were told that we have to order what we want. All respect to all religions but the question is why there was no such information at the time of the booking. Why they didn’t notify us at least when we checked-in it? The list goes on and on such as broken toilet door handle that you could be locked inside the toilet, blocked sink, long wait if you ordered something…… I strongly recommend to everyone to avoid this hotel even if the location is good and photos are tempting. Even local people told us that this hotel has ill reputation amongst them but unfortunately we learnt it...

One of the worst hotel stay I ever had. Unprofessional staffs, very poor service, not what you would expect from a 5 star hotel.

A group of us booked few rooms, few months before our trip and at the time of our booking using pool area was included in the price. When we arrived we were told that we need to pay $15 per day per person to use the pool, we obviously did not accept it and therefore it started an argument which lasted for our entire stay in the hotel. I personally did not use the pool area, they were doing some work on that area and most of the area was not in use and it doesn’t look as attractive as it does in photos, my friends however did use the pool facilities. Since the restaurant is located next to the pool area, I had to go through security guard for the pool every morning for breakfast and security guard kept reminding me that I need to pay to use the pool area and I had to keep telling them that I am not using the pool, this became really annoying toward the end of my stay and when I complained to the pool manager, she did not acknowledge that this is not right and insisted that her staffs are doing their job. My friends on the other hand had argument every time they wanted to the pool facility which became really unpleasant toward end of our trip.I was expecting the hotel manager to acknowledge the fact that using pool facilities was included in our booking. They were doing some building work which starts at 10AM until 6PM every day and they were making lots of noise. Also they had wedding reception starting at around 7PM until 11PM with loud music almost every day. So if I needed couple of hours of relaxation and rest during the day in my room, I had no chance, and when I complained, no action was taken. We found that our toilet sink was blocked and water could not drain properly, also door handle on bathroom door just came off due to rusty door, so I was not able to close the bathroom door. We complained and they fixed the bathroom door but unfortunately it came off again and when we complain no action was taken. So we had to use a disgusting sink. I found attitude of the hotel staffs so unprofessional, they were so defensive and unwilling to help. So if you are looking for a 5 star experience, you are looking at a wrong hotel, you will be...

Although this place is at a great location with pool access. It is however one of the dirtiest hotel I have yet to see. The cleaning staff does not properly clean the rooms...they fix your bed put you towels “sometimes” and call it a day. My room has not been dusted down or vacuumed in the 3 weeks I have stayed here. Each time I have complained they brush me off and do nothing about it. Not to forget that every time you shower the bathroom starts leaking in every room. They also have no care for the guests when they start working on the rooms above yours that wakes you up at 6am. The hotel is also strict on letting visitors in or giving a friend access to the pool with you. The staff are very unprofessional they are not only rude when speaking with you but disrespectful when dealing with. This hotel is over priced for nothing not to mention the rooms are far to small and the power is constantly going off and on. The food is also not that great and and the staff on the beach try to avoide you at all times to not have to help you with anything. My advice find yourself another place to stay....believe me you will be disappointed with RIviera. THERE IS NO WAY THIS...
