King Park Hotel Tawau — Hotel in Borneo

Booked 2 rooms for 1 night. We checked in around 10.30pm and were given 2 room on Level 3. Upon entering the room we felt dissapointed because the aircond not even cold and the carpet quite dirty. We tend to be considerate of the room condition but then around 3am we woke up due 'power blackout' . What more stressful was to know that 'power blackout' only happened at Level 3! We called the receptionist/person on duty for several time, nobody answer. we checked downstairs and found out nobody at the reception area. Luckily after about half an hour a Maintenance staff help us by letting us use another room on Level 6. When we checked out in the morning we inform the 'midnight staff on duty'/reception person about the incident.. but unfortunately he rather spoke to us like we are to be blamed for our dissatisfaction and not even sincerely say sorry to us on behalf of the hotel...

I booked a room directly through the reservation as the email and website were not operational as my email enquiry went unanswered. Having stayed at the Kota Kinabalu's branch, I had made the impression that this is a decently comfortable for a brief stop over. Facilities are basic but adequate for simple travellers although there are rooms for improvements. The air conditioning was not working well as it remained warm until after midnight. The location is ideal for travellers with their own transport as there is ample parking space although located behind the hotel building. The streets in the vicinity are busy as there are several hotels, restaurants, supermarkets and banks located within the same area. For food lovers, there are several restaurants just in front of the hotel with many more within walking...

[26.10.2022] Room was old and dirty. Carpeted floor. Furniture is old. How can they sell such room? Bed lining has stains. Never wash or change? Bedside broken standing lamp fell suddenly in the middle of the night, almost hitting me. Please do not put broken furniture inside room. Digital door lock malfunction. Had to contact front office to assist to open door. Door double lock knob was broken! And, I got bedbug bites staying in this hotel! Bathroom is provided only with two soap bar. No shampoo. Front Office staffs not happy looking, no smile, no class. Breakfast is mediocre and bland. No soy sauce, no chili sauce, vegetable overcooked. The servicing F&B staff on the breakfast area (lady with headscarf 26.10.2022) was friendly and deserves praise. Still, don't be fooled by this hotel name....
