Kingston Hotel — Hotel in Borneo

Kingston Executive Hotel | Tawau, Sabah, Malaysia Borneo||This is not an excellent choice for travellers visiting Tawau. This property’s amenities and room features are totally not enhancing travellers’ stay.||Safe Box|Room is provided with safe deposit box which you commonly find in hotel room around the world.|At Kingston Executive Hotel in Tawau, you cannot enter your own PIN that only you can remember but you are given a key to open/close it and the hotel has the master key to open/close it as communicated to us by the staff from Maintenance. It is not safe leaving important documents etc in the safe box with (and knowing) hotel has master key to open/close it.||Housekeeping |• Toilet roll|No new toilet roll, no extra toilet roll. To use whatever left on the toilet roll from previous guest hence we bought our own toilet rolls from nearby convenient store.||• Towel, Floor Mat|No extra towel and/or floor mat can be requested.||Shower|Glass door to shower cubicle has no handle to open and close it.|To open from outside, push the glass door.|To close from inside, push the glass door. No matter how careful and slowly pushing it to close, glass door touches the wall and makes a loud banging noise.|To open from inside, reach out to the top of glass door to open.||Shower wasn’t working, there was no cold water in the shower, only hot. Maintenance temporarily fixed it and the next day fully fixed it.||Front Desk Team|• The team is lacking professionalism and stringent guidelines to protect guests.|• We were informed that Maintenance staff are not hotel staff hence hotel is not responsible who calls in to the room to fix things up.|• We were assured that remaining room payment can be done on check-out but on 4th day of stay, the power to the room was cut off, we learnt it is the hotel’s way of communicating with us that we need to make payment. The power were not reinstated after payment was made and we were to walk down to reception to make another complaint. Only then power was resume.||Television|Screen shown a lot of static when switched on. Maintenance Team fixed it and we were able to watch television shows.|The next day, every day whenever television is switched on, “Tiada isyarat” (meaning no signal) popped up on screen, Front Desk is informed, Maintenance staff called in to fix. These were daily ongoing whenever television is switched on.||Door|Knob is wobbly. Knob needs to be reassessed to see if it needs replacement or fixing it suffice.||Toilet flushing problem|Toilet bowl overflowed and not flushing down properly. It was fixed by Maintenance Team.||Phone|Phone is available in the room but it is only for display as it is not connected at all.||Maintenance Team|They were very helpful but after knowing that hotel is not responsible who calls in to the room to fix things up, made us feeling very nervous and unsafe.||Conclusion: In hospitality, guests’ stay is either made up of magic or tragic moments/experiences. Stayed for two days, Toilet was poorly maintained. Sink faucet is in bad condition, water not warm enough, flush not working,we tell them the problem and their staff came over, 1st was a young guy came and spend 30 minutes in toilet while we wait to have a shower. After 30 min went away and said will come back to fix again and went out with the shoe wetting our floor with footstep from toilet and left. I had to clean the floor myself after he left. Then we wait another 20 min and I got tired of waiting as we need to head somewhere and is already spending 40 minutes waiting in the room. I went downstairs to counter to ask if possible to change the room coz fixing is taking long and we don't want to spend whole day waiting. We have a lot of gadgets and other expensive things in the room and didn't so we prefer to stay in the room waiting for the guy fixing the toilet. When I went to counter to ask if possible to change,said is not possible to change so sent another guy to check the toilet. He went up and fixed it a bit after 30 minutes more,then told us is fixed but still take long time to flush the toilet, so we just decided to be okay with it and went out. When we came back and head to our room, we saw from afar their staff two guys were entering the room with master key, feel angry because we put the 'do not disturb' obviously. And we thought it's already fixed the toilet problem. And when they saw us then only explain is trying to fix the problem of toilet. Is the same young guy from before. And they enter the room with the shoe again into the toilet and I have to ask them to please remove the shoe because when they come out of the toilet is gonna wet the floor. Then they replied 'we will moped it later anyway' and remove the shoe. Well the first time the guy enter didn't clean it and wet even the toilet. It passed me a bit and they spent another 20 minutes in the toilet doing I don't know what. In the end, flush work a bit only and I don't recommend this hotel. Toilet smell weird by the way. And at night is noisy from across the room, when I go out to check I saw their staff also stay here? And they're running and screaming,joking outside at night....

I stayed in single occupancy room with queen bed. Overall, it is a very good hotel with reasonable price.||The room is clean. Air-conditioner, TV and water heater all working fine. Bed and pillows are clean. Wifi service available.||||However, there are couple of things that I fell can be better. The direction of the bed is kind of weird. Well, perhaps is the room is long and not wide enough. The cupboard is old, should be change. if possible, wifi should be upgrade because it is very slow. Perhaps||||There is one 24 hour convenience store next to the hotel. There is also a big apple restaurant 2 doors away. There are really plenty place to eat around the hotel area just within walking distance. There are also pub or cafe around the hotel. However, according to the hotel staff, you have to choose the correct pub as some pubs sell drugs and kind of dangerous.||||The hotel staff that welcome me did a great job. Besides telling me about the surrounding area, also intro where can I eat and hang out. Good choice by him. Very good and quick response because the iron & iron board reach my room within 5 mins after I make the request. ||||Definitely will...
