A Pleasant Stay with Thoughtful Touches
I recently stayed at this hotel for two nights with my son during a short trip for a wedding reception. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and I appreciate the effort the hotel has put into creating a welcoming atmosphere.
Check-In Process: The check-in process was smooth and efficient, thanks to the polite and professional front desk staff. The lobby is clean and modern, with a beautiful high glass wall offering a lovely view of the road. While the entrance was under renovation, which made it a bit unclear where to drop bags, the security guard was helpful and guided us to the second floor for check-in. The elevated lift parking system is a unique and innovative solution, especially given the limited land area. However, during peak times, I can imagine the wait might be longer, so perhaps introducing a valet service or parking assistant could enhance the experience further.
The Room: We stayed in Room 902, which was compact but comfortable for the two of us. The room had a contemporary design, and the bed was exceptionally cozy with soft, squishy pillows and high-quality bedding. The toilet was spotless and well-designed, with a great vanity mirror and top-notch bathroom amenities. The shower hose and fittings were of excellent quality, which I truly appreciated. Although the TV wasn’t installed yet, the hotel had kindly compensated with in-room snacks, which was a thoughtful gesture. The view from the room was also a highlight, overlooking Penang town through the glass wall. Location: The hotel’s location is fantastic—right in the heart of Macalister Road, surrounded by unique, classic buildings that exude nostalgia. It’s within walking distance to convenience stores, pharmacies, and a variety of restaurants. Gurney Drive and nearby malls are just a 10-minute drive away, making it a convenient base for exploring the area.
Minor Issues: There were a couple of hiccups during our stay, such as the water heater in the shower not working and the room phone being unreachable. Additionally, I had some difficulty contacting the hotel via phone as the number provided wasn’t accessible. While these were minor inconveniences, they didn’t overshadow the overall positive experience.
Exceptional Service: What truly stood out was the exceptional service from the front desk team. On my last day, I spoke with a lovely lady (unfortunately, I didn’t catch her name) who was incredibly kind and understanding. She apologized sincerely for the issues I faced and went above and beyond by allowing me a late check-out due to a delayed flight. This thoughtful gesture made a big difference and allowed me to rest and freshen up before my journey.
A Thoughtful Gesture: To my surprise, during check-out, the front desk team presented me with a custom coffee cup as a gift. As a coffee lover, this was such a delightful and personal touch that truly brightened my day. It’s these small, thoughtful details that leave a lasting impression.
Final Thoughts: While there are a few areas for improvement, particularly with room amenities and communication, the hotel shows great potential. The staff’s professionalism, the comfortable room, and the thoughtful gestures made our stay enjoyable. I would definitely consider staying here again and look forward to seeing how the hotel continues to grow and refine its services. Thank you to the team for making our...
Read moreThis is one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed at. I booked it and check in on 10 May 2025 with high expectations since it is new, but it turned out to be a disappointment.
We had booked a king size bed room, but were given a twin bed room instead with a casual “oversold” explanation. This is completely unacceptable and shows unprofessional hotel management.
The room was tiny, which was already bad enough, but it didn’t even have a single shelf or space to put our belongings, let alone a wardrobe.
The bathroom didn’t have a place to hang towels either.
The water heater was either scalding hot or freezing cold, with most importantly with very weak water pressure.
And the bathroom drain also had a strong, unpleasant odor that kept coming up. When we complained, the staff said it was because we didn’t request housekeeping to clean it. Excuse me? We had just checked in less than three hours ago—how could there already be a need for housekeeping to clean it?
The air-conditioning wasn’t cold at all, which is unbelievable for such a new hotel.
What made the experience even worse was the mechanical parking system. There was no car park operator that is professional and knowledgeable to guide or assist with it, only handle by the security which is not experienced enough to handle this task!
On the day we check-in, the mechanical car park broke down before we even had the chance to use it. Several groups of guests were left standing outside waiting without shelter. I cannot imagine if there is raining or freaking hot day. The corridor was completely blocked, causing a traffic jam as cars couldn’t move in or out.
If you’re considering booking this hotel, think twice. Be sure to check the reviews on any platform before...
Read moreStayed for 4 days 3 nights. The built-up of the room albeit small but it’s nice and cozy, minimalist design. However, the housekeeping and on-site parking has to be improved.
Housekeeping - 1st round of housekeeping (Day 2) the cleaners took cleaned and made our rooms but did not replaced our towels (towels were taken away by the cleaners but no replacements were given). I had to personally request for towels via reception and had to wait around 30 minutes for them to be delivered. The next incident was on Day 3. We left the hotel at 9am in the morning and returned to our hotel at 545pm in the evening only to discover that our room was not made despite leaving the please make up room sign since morning. Again, we had to inform the reception regarding this and informed the housekeeping crew that we bumped into.
Parking - the hotel’s parking is very very limited to those who are driving SUV or MPV. I was told that their mutlistorey carpark can only accommodate smaller sized car so the SUVs and MPVs would need to park around the driveways of the hotel compound. Coincidently there was a surge in customers driving SUV and MPV during my stay hence, parking would be on a first come first serve basis as informed by the security guard at the entrance. Every time that I leave the hotel I would be worrying if I would have a carpark when I get back. In my opinion, this is something that hotel guests should not have to worry about at all.
I would think twice about booking this hotel again...
